We value collaboration, continuous learning and proactive problem-solving, providing a supportive environment in which team members can build a long-term career in enterprise sales.
The Impact:
This role offers the opportunity to develop a career in enterprise sales while working with financial institutions, corporations and other market participants across Africa. You will play a significant role in identifying new business opportunities, developing client relationships and contributing to revenue growth while building deep expertise across our solutions, clients and markets.
By applying an analytical perspective, professional knowledge and curiosity, you will help address complex client needs, contribute to initiatives that improve sales effectiveness and support the team’s wider commercial and operational success.
What’s in it for You:
- Competitive salary and eligibility to participate in an annual incentive plan.
- A comprehensive S&P Global benefits package and access to professional development opportunities.
- Exposure to major financial institutions, investment markets and industry leaders across Africa.
- Structured career development within a global data and technology organisation.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, prospect and qualify new business opportunities within an assigned territory or client segment through outbound prospecting, campaigns and referrals.
- Understand clients’ workflows, business priorities and challenges, and connect these needs with relevant S&P Global Market Intelligence solutions.
- Support and increasingly take ownership of the sales process, from initial engagement through to closing, resolving varied or non-routine issues and managing deliverables effectively under general guidance.
- Establish credibility and build lasting relationships with users, decision-makers and senior stakeholders, while collaborating with senior sales colleagues, Relationship Managers, Product, Customer Success and Marketing teams to execute account strategies.
- Maintain strong sales discipline by keeping pipeline information, opportunities, contacts, meeting notes and forecasts accurate and current in Salesforce.
- All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.
What We’re Looking For:
Basic Required Qualifications:
- An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 5+ years of experience and exposure to financial institutions, investment markets or corporate finance.
- Strong interest in financial markets, data and technology, with the ability to learn complex products and translate their capabilities into clear client value.
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage new contacts and explain complex or technical information clearly.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with close attention to detail and the ability to prioritise high-impact activities, deliver high-quality work and meet agreed timelines.
- Emotional intelligence, resilience and adaptability, including the ability to remain positive following setbacks and identify appropriate options when working with incomplete or conflicting information.
- Strong collaboration and leadership skills, with the ability to influence peers, contribute to team goals, support colleagues and take ownership of clearly defined work while considering the priorities of others.
- We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous B2B sales, business development or client-facing experience within a commercial, financial-services, data or technology environment.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Familiarity with CRM tools such as Salesforce, sales forecasting and pipeline-management processes.
- Knowledge of the South African or broader African financial-services market, combined with a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
