Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•     Develop and implement annual department goals, objectives, program plans, and budgets.

•     Manage daily department operations, expenditures, scheduling, and administrative correspondence related to cultural programs.

•     Supervise Cultural Preservation staff, assign work, monitor performance, and support staff development.

•     Plan, organize, and schedule language classes, cultural workshops, and other cultural education activities for Tribal members.

•     Work with Tribal elders, language speakers, and Tribal members to develop educational resources and share cultural knowledge with their permission.

•     Promote intergenerational learning and Tribal member participation in language and cultural programs.

•     Oversee the development and use of cultural education materials that reflect Peoria traditions and respect appropriate cultural protocols.

•     Maintain department administrative records, program schedules, participation records, and budget documentation.

•     Evaluate cultural programs and provide updates on department activities, goals, and budget needs to the Tribal Administrator.

•     Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of department administration, language preservation, and cultural education.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

•     A college degree in History, Education, Cultural Studies, or a related field preferred.

•     Knowledge of Peoria Tribal history, language, and cultural traditions required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

•     Ability to plan and manage cultural education programs and department operations.

•     Ability to supervise staff, establish priorities, and meet deadlines.

•     Knowledge of budgeting, program planning, and administrative record-keeping.

•     Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking.

•     Ability to work respectfully with Tribal elders, Tribal members, staff, and community partners.

•     Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect cultural protocols concerning the sharing of Tribal knowledge.

•     Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, and internet applications.

Certifications:

•     Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurance.

Conditions of Employment:

The Peoria Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma operates a drug-free workplace.

•     May be required to submit to and pass applicable drug test and background check.

•     Adhere to all work rules, policies and procedures, and safety standards.

Work Requirements:

Position involves prolonged sitting, standing, stooping or bending, and lifting or carrying up to 30 pounds on a daily basis. Work is generally performed in an office environment with varying levels of lighting, air quality, noise, and/or temperature.
