Advanced Computational Cognitive Scientist

The role is based in Shanghai (anchor role), China. This position sits within R&D, Cognitive Science team, as part of the R&D Scent New Frontiers Group. We are a vibrant research group with a mission to establish IFF as the leader in Cognitive Science applied to fragrance innovation through integrated Sensory, Consumer & Neuroscience methods & technologies. 

 

 

Where You’ll Make a Difference

• Define and implement data management and analytical strategy tailored for the cognitive science team
• Training researchers within the cognitive science team on the implementation of advanced analytical methods
• Building cutting-edge data science methods and tools in close collaboration with programs leaders
• Ensure all aspects of human research are in full compliance with best practices for data collection, storage, processing, analytics, visualization, interpretation and cloud-based data sharing
• Ensuring standards of data quality that adhere to strict scientific principles, ethical policies and follow IFF safety standards and data security
• Identify and implement methods to automate end-to-end data flows

 

What Makes You the Right Fit

• Master’s or PhD in a field related to cognitive science.
• Strong experience with handling and integrating explicit and implicit sensory, consumer and neuroscience data
• A proven record of applying advanced data analytical methods and computer programming in the context of perceptual research
• Ability to work independently within a broadly defined technical area, aligning strategic priorities with assigned project activities.
• Strong strategic thinking and communication skills with demonstrated ability to apply methods across a diverse array of applications
• Demonstrated track record of operating as a data scientist at the interface of all three domains (sensory, consumer, and neuroscience)
• Demonstrated aptitude at delivering data science solutions, either directly or in partnership with data scientists and engineers
• Strong team player with influencing skills
• Strong written and presentation communication skills; Must be able to effectively communicate findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences as well as senior leaders
• Ability to publish research in peer-reviewed journals

 

How Would You Stand Out?

• Experience in the fragrance industry
• Experience combining sensory, consumer, and neuroscience data with related data streams for big data powered analytics and modeling
• Demonstration of advanced competency in data science, including advanced statistics, AI-based modeling and programing experience, i.e., Python, R, SQL, MATLAB, in the context of cognitive science
• Experience with data management, including incorporation of modern infrastructure such as AWS, Azure, and Snowflake
