The Opportunity:

As a Network Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, managing, and securing our corporate network infrastructure, Fortinet ecosystem, and cloud connectivity. Your expertise will ensure the highest levels of network reliability, performance, and security, supporting our commitment to delivering exceptional service to our clients and customers. In this role, you will lead complex networking and security initiatives, evolve existing network architectures, and implement robust defense-in-depth technologies across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments.

Location: based out of our corporate office in Mississauga, Ontario.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage Network & Security Operations: Direct day-to-day administration, optimization, and hardening of enterprise network infrastructure, with a primary focus on Fortinet firewalls (FortiGate), switches (FortiSwitch), access points (FortiAP), and VPNs.

Enforce Network Security Controls: Implement best-practice security policies, Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Web Filtering, and SSL inspection across the Fortinet fabric and global network endpoints.

Maintain Documentation: Create and update comprehensive network diagrams, topology maps, configuration standards, security playbooks, and problem management records.

Monitor Network Performance: Maintain vigilant oversight of network capacity, bandwidth utilization, latency, and uptime metrics using centralized observability platforms.

Administrate Cloud & Hybrid Connectivity: Ensure secure connectivity between on-premises networks and cloud environments, primarily focusing on Microsoft Azure (ExpressRoute, VNet peering, virtual network appliances).

Support IT Strategy & Continuous Improvement: Contribute tactical input to the long-term network roadmap, architecture standards, and service delivery enhancements.

Incident Response & Tier-3 Escalation: Serve as the senior escalation point for complex network routing, switching, VPN, and security incident investigations.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Fortinet Specialization: Advanced technical proficiency in configuring, deploying, and managing Fortinet security solutions, including FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, and FortiClient EMS.

Enterprise Networking Expertise: Deep understanding of core network routing/switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP, Link Aggregation) and WAN architectures (SD-WAN, MPLS, IPsec VPNs).

Security-First Mindset: Strong expertise in network segmentation, micro-segmentation, threat mitigation, and secure-by-design architecture principles.

Cloud Networking: Demonstrated proficiency with Azure networking components (VNets, Network Security Groups, User Defined Routes, Virtual Network Gateways).

Network Observability: Hands-on experience with network monitoring, SIEM integration, and centralized log management using FortiAnalyzer, Azure Monitor, Wireshark, SNMP, or Syslog tools.

Preferred Skills, and Abilities:

Technical Leadership & Communication: Ability to explain technical risks to business stakeholders, and drive cross-functional projects to completion.

Identity & Access Management: Solid understanding of Microsoft Entra ID / Active Directory integration for network authentication (RADIUS, TACACS+, 802.1X, MFA).

Databases: Working knowledge of database platforms such as Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL, particularly as they relate to infrastructure, performance, and availability considerations.

ITIL Alignment: Solid understanding of ITIL frameworks (Change Management, Incident Management, Problem Management) to ensure minimal operational disruption.

What you’ve done:

  • 5+ years experience of dedicated experience designing, building, and supporting complex enterprise network and security environments.
  • Required Certifications: Fortinet Certified Professional (FCP) or Fortinet Certified SolutionSpecialist (FCSS) (formerly Fortinet NSE 4 / NSE 7) is strongly preferred.
  • Vendor-neutral security or networking certifications (e.g., CCNP Security, CISSP, Network+) are considered strong assets.

Core Technical Skills:

  • Expert-level command of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, IPsec, and SSL-VPN solutions.
  • Proven track record implementing hybrid cloud networks with Microsoft Azure (AWS/GCP experience is a bonus).
  • Practical experience with scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell, Terraform and Ansible) for network automation and operational efficiency.

Working Conditions: Flexibility to work various schedules, including evenings and weekends, as required.

What’s in it for you:

  • Competitive base salary: $100K-$115K plus bonus.
  • Generous time off: Start with 3 weeks of vacation, plus extra flex days to recharge.
  • Comprehensive benefits package: Includes medical, dental, vision, health spending account, and Teladoc virtual care.
