UnspecifiedThe Principal Stress Engineer conducts advanced structural analysis of aerospace components, including stress and fatigue assessments, using classical hand-analysis methods and finite element analysis (FEA) tools. This role evaluates the structural integrity of metallic and nonmetallic aerospace products, supports structural testing, and provides technical leadership through project management, technical reviews, and guidance to lower-level engineering professionals.
What You Will Do
- Conduct stress and fatigue analyses of aerospace components using classical hand-analysis methods and computer-based structural analysis tools.
- Develop and document structural test activities to assess the integrity of metallic and nonmetallic aerospace products.
- Manage moderately sized technical projects or processes related to structural analysis, ensuring alignment with operational objectives.
- Review technical deliverables, delegate assignments, and coach lower-level engineering professionals.
- Identify and implement improvements to structural analysis processes, systems, and products to enhance performance.
- Contribute to discipline goals and planning activities, including operational plans and budgets.
- Provide technical input to processes and standards that support business strategies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders within and outside the structural analysis discipline and influence operational practices, policies, and procedures.
- Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Qualifications You Must Have
- A university degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Experience conducting stress and fatigue structural analyses of aerospace components.
- Experience applying classical hand-analysis methods in aerospace applications.
- Experience using finite element analysis (FEA) tools such as NASTRAN, PATRAN, or similar software applications.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience developing and documenting structural test activities for metallic and nonmetallic aerospace products.
- Experience managing technical projects or processes and reviewing structural analysis deliverables.
- Experience coaching or providing technical guidance to lower-level engineering professionals.
