Job Description

  

Position Summary 

The Shipping Lead is responsible for leading daily shipping operations to ensure custom orders are prepared, packaged, documented, and shipped accurately and on time. This role provides day-to-day leadership for the shipping team, promotes a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, and serves as the primary point of contact shipping-related activities.  

The Shipping Lead works closely with Receiving, Production, Planning, Purchasing, and Quality to maintain workflow efficiency, inventory accuracy, and exceptional customer service while supporting the ongoing development of the shipping department.  

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead and coordinate daily outbound shipping activities, ensuring orders are complete, accurate, and shipping on schedule.  

  • Assign daily priorities and provide guidance, coaching, and support to shipping personnel.  

  • Train new team members and reinforce standard work, safety practices, and shipping procedures.  

  • Verify part numbers, quantities, certifications, and shipping documentation prior to shipment.  

  • Ensure all shipments are accurately entered into the ERP system (XA) and comply with customer requirements.  

  • Coordinate pickups with UPS, FedEx, freight carriers, and customers while proactively resolving shipping issues.  

  • Ensure packaging, labeling, and documentation meet company, customer, and regulatory requirements.  

  • Monitor shipping metrics and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and workflow.  

  • Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts, transaction verification, and collaboration with Receiving. 

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping area while ensuring shipping supplies and materials remain available.  

  • Communicate shipment status, priorities, and potential delays with Production, Planning, Purchasing, Customer Service, and Quality.  

  • Investigate shipping discrepancies and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.  

  • Serves as a resource for the shipping team by helping remove obstacles and promoting teamwork across departments.  

  • Support departmental initiatives and contribute to process improvements that enhance customer satisfaction and operational performance.  

  • Other duties as needed. 

Qualifications 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 

  • 3+ years of shipping, warehouse, or logistics experience in a manufacturing environment.  

  • Previous experience leading, training, or mentoring others preferred.  

  • Experience using ERP systems (XA preferred). 

  • Strong understanding of shipping documentation, domestic and international shipping practices, and inventory transactions.  

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel.

  • Ability to operate pallet jacks, carts, and other material-handling equipment. 

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. throughout the workday.  

  

Salary Range:

$44,500.00-$59,300.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
