What’s the job?
The Academic Services Compliance and Reporting Specialist supports the Associate Registrar, Student Governance and Compliance, by coordinating compliance, risk, assurance, reporting and business improvement activities across Academic Administration Services and Student Experience.

You will help maintain reliable governance information and evidence, support the implementation of regulatory and policy requirements, and provide reporting and analysis that assists risk management, assurance and service improvement.

The role also provides delegated operational support for external complaints and National Student Ombudsman matters, escalating complex or high-risk issues to the Associate Registrar.

Principle accountabilities (but not limited to):

  • Compliance, Risk and Assurance: manage compliance, risk and assurance activities, maintain registers and evidence repositories, conduct assurance reviews, and track corrective actions.
  • Reporting, Data Quality and Performance: prepare quarterly reports, validate data, identify trends and anomalies, and maintain reporting documentation and evidence trails.
  • External Complaints and National Student Ombudsman: coordinate complaints and investigations, prepare evidence-based responses, monitor deadlines, and track outcomes and remedial actions.
  • Implementation and Business Improvement: coordinate compliance and improvement initiatives, including policies, processes, controls, milestones, dependencies, risks and stakeholder consultation.
  • Student-Centred Insight and Responsible AI: analyse student feedback, complaints and service trends, and use approved digital and AI tools responsibly to support improvement and reporting.

Who you are:

  • An experienced compliance, risk, assurance, reporting or business improvement professional who has worked in a complex or regulated environment, preferably higher education, vocational education or a comparable sector.
  • Experienced in coordinating projects or improvement initiatives from planning through to implementation and follow-through.
  • Confident maintaining risk registers, action plans, controls, evidence, reporting schedules and data-quality processes.
  • Skilled in preparing reports, dashboards or briefing materials that identify trends, quantify activity and support sound decision-making.
  • Experienced in coordinating sensitive complaints, regulatory investigations or National Student Ombudsman matters, including evidence collation, stakeholder coordination and deadline management.
  • A clear and concise written communicator with strong analytical capability, attention to detail and confidence working with data, trends, metrics and quality checks.
  • Able to exercise sound judgement, identify matters requiring escalation and follow issues through to resolution.
  • Collaborative and student-centred, with the ability to build constructive relationships and coordinate contributions across multiple teams without direct authority.
  • Digitally confident, including the responsible use of reporting tools, workflow systems and artificial intelligence with human oversight.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, education, law, governance, compliance, risk, quality, data, student administration or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Qualifications or professional development in compliance, risk, audit, quality assurance, project management, data analysis or business improvement are desirable.
