About the Position
This is an industrial/production maintenance position—not a building or facilities maintenance position.
Our facility is looking for an experienced Industrial / Production Maintenance Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain the equipment and process systems that keep our metal-finishing operations running.
The primary focus of this position is production equipment and process maintenance, including pumps, motors, mechanical equipment, production machinery, valves, and the extensive plastic piping systems used to move chemicals throughout our production processes.
You'll respond to equipment breakdowns, diagnose mechanical and process problems, perform preventive maintenance, and make repairs that keep production operating safely and efficiently.
The position also requires working knowledge of HVAC and basic plumbing, but candidates whose experience is primarily residential, apartment, commercial-building, or general facilities maintenance will not have the type of experience we're seeking for this position.
We're looking for someone with hands-on maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, processing, or production environment—someone who can troubleshoot a problem, determine what's causing it, and make the appropriate repair.
What You'll Do
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial production machinery and equipment.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and production maintenance needs.
- Diagnose and repair pumps, motors, valves, and related mechanical systems.
- Troubleshoot equipment and process problems to determine the underlying cause of failures.
- Maintain and repair plastic process piping used to move chemicals throughout production.
- Repair or replace PVC, CPVC, valves, fittings, piping, and related components.
- Diagnose leaks, flow problems, pump issues, and other process-system problems.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on production equipment and systems.
- Make mechanical repairs and replace worn or failed components.
- Perform HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
- Perform basic plumbing repairs.
- Read and follow equipment manuals, work orders, procedures, and technical information.
- Use hand tools, power tools, meters, and other maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
- Document completed maintenance and communicate additional repairs or follow-up work that may be needed.
- Maintain tools, parts, equipment, and work areas in an organized manner.
- Follow required safety procedures when working with machinery, piping, chemicals, and production systems.
- Assist with other maintenance projects as needed.
What We're Looking For
- Industrial, manufacturing, processing, or production maintenance experience is required.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing production machinery and equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing pumps, motors, valves, and mechanical systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
- Experience with process piping; PVC, CPVC, or other plastic chemical/process piping experience is strongly preferred.
- Ability to diagnose equipment failures systematically and determine the cause of the problem.
- Preventive maintenance experience.
- HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
- Basic plumbing skills.
- Ability to read and follow technical instructions, equipment manuals, work orders, and maintenance documentation.
- Ability to safely work around industrial machinery, production equipment, and chemical-processing systems.
- Ability to prioritize repairs when multiple production needs occur at the same time.
- Ability to work independently while also supporting production and the maintenance team.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
Boiler License
A boiler operator's license is not required to apply, but the person hired for this position must be willing to obtain the required license.
The successful candidate must be willing to complete the necessary training, studying, and testing to obtain and maintain the appropriate boiler operator's license.
The Kind of Maintenance Technician We're Looking For
Production maintenance doesn't always happen under ideal conditions. Equipment breaks while production is running. Pumps fail. Pipes leak. A process may suddenly stop working the way it should.
We need someone who can look at the symptoms, troubleshoot the problem, determine the cause, and make a safe and effective repair.
Sometimes that means working in an area that is wet, dirty, hot, or inconvenient. Sometimes production is waiting and there is pressure to get equipment running again.
We expect our Maintenance Technicians to work with urgency—but not at the expense of safety or a proper repair.
If your experience is primarily maintaining buildings, changing filters, repairing doors, performing grounds work, or handling residential-type maintenance, this position is probably not the right fit. If you're accustomed to keeping production equipment running and figuring out why machinery or process systems aren't working, that's the experience we're looking for.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, crouch, and work in various positions throughout the shift.
- Ability to use hands and arms for maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Ability to work around operating production machinery and industrial equipment.
- Ability to work in areas that may be wet, hot, dirty, or otherwise typical of an industrial production environment.
- Ability to safely lift and move tools, parts, materials, and equipment as required by the position.
- Ability to perform the physical work associated with industrial/production maintenance.
Benefits
Eligible employees have access to a competitive benefits package that includes:
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- NICE Healthcare
