Ready for a role where every great experience starts with you? The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), Park Maintenance and Recreation Services Division is looking for motivated Cashier-Clerks! This full-time, permanent role, located in Hanauma Bay, involves collecting visitor fees, processing payments, assisting the public, and handling daily cash and clerical duties.

What You Will Do
  • Collect visitor fees by operating cash registers and processing admission and parking payments.
  • Verify visitor information to determine applicable fees, discounts, and payment types.
  • Balance daily cash by reconciling receipts, register tapes, refunds, and deposits.
  • Assist visitors by providing information on park hours, fees, transportation, and rules.
  • Complete daily closing duties by preparing reports, securing cash, and cleaning cashiering areas.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.

Special Working Conditions
  • Work schedule is Wednesday - Sunday from 6:15 a.m. until 2:45 p.m., off Monday and Tuesday.
  • May work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs.
  • This position will serve as a Disaster Response worker during declared emergencies.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience that demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
One (1) year of clerical experience involving the posting of information onto records, forms, or reports; or reviewing, checking, sorting, and filing records, forms, or reports.

Desired Experience: One (1) year of cashiering experience involving the operation of a cash register, POS system, and credit card terminal for accepting and issuing U.S. currency.

Substitution: Business school or college level credits from a regionally-accredited college or university will substitute for experience on a month-for-month basis.

Must be able to:

  • Use filing methods and systems.
  • Identify acceptable forms of payment.
  • Operate office equipment, including cash registers, calculators, adding and calculating machines, typewriters, personal computers, and copiers.
  • Perform rapid and accurate arithmetic computations.
  • Compare and sort names and numbers accurately.
  • Handle, count cash, and make change rapidly and accurately.
  • Operate and balance a cash register.
  • Provide courteous and efficient customer service.
  • Explain program policies, procedures, and related information to the public.
  • Handle minor complaints from confused or agitated customers.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with others.
