Job Title: Senior Accountant
Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Finance Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and reviewing accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial records, supporting monthly and year-end closing, and providing reliable financial information to management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and review day-to-day accounting transactions and ensure accurate recording in the accounting system.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, provisions, and adjustments.
- Handle monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare and review financial reports and management reports.
- Perform bank, customer, supplier, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable balances and follow up on outstanding items.
- Review project-related costs, expenses, revenues, and supporting documentation.
- Monitor project accounting and ensure proper allocation of costs to the relevant projects.
- Assist in monitoring project profitability, cost variances, and financial performance.
- Support WIP (Work in Progress) accounting and project cost reporting.
- Review subcontractor, supplier, and project-related invoices and ensure proper accounting treatment.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis when required.
- Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and applicable IFRS requirements.
- Coordinate with other departments regarding financial and accounting matters.
- Support external auditors during audit processes and provide required schedules and supporting documents.
- Perform other accounting and financial duties as assigned by the Chief Accountant/ Finance Manager.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 5–7 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Mandatory: Previous experience in a construction/contracting company. Candidates without contracting/construction industry experience will not be considered.
- Bilingual: Excellent Arabic and English communication skills, both written and spoken, are mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of project accounting, project costing, WIP, and project profitability.
- Good understanding of accounting principles and IFRS.
- Strong experience in General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, reconciliations, and month-end closing.
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in construction, civil works, infrastructure, MEP, maintenance, landscaping, or other contracting activities.
- Experience with project costing, subcontractors, WIP, retention, advance payments, and project profitability.
- Professional accounting certification or progress toward a professional qualification is an advantage.
