Job Description
The Jurisdiction & Classification Specialist is responsible for supporting and continuously improving Teledyne's global Jurisdiction & Classification (J&C) program. This role serves as a key resource for designated J&C Focals, providing regulatory guidance, training, process oversight, and validation support to ensure export classifications are completed accurately, consistently, and in compliance with applicable export control regulations. The position partners closely with engineering, trade compliance, and business teams to drive effective classification processes across multiple business units.
This position may be based in our Billerica, MA, Elkridge, MD, or Wilsonville, OR office and will support business units across Teledyne.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support and coordinate the completion, review, and validation of Jurisdiction & Classification (J&C) determinations for products, software, and technology across assigned business units, ensuring compliance with applicable export control regulations
- Serve as a subject matter resource to designated J&C Focals, providing guidance on classification methodologies, regulatory requirements, and determination processes
- Support the administration and ongoing execution of the J&C Focal program, including participant training and ongoing support
- Develop, maintain, and deliver J&C training materials and guidance related to export control regulations and classification requirements
- Collaborate with Engineering, Trade Compliance, and cross-functional stakeholders to support accurate and consistent J&C determinations
- Collaborate with IT to identify and implement methods for maintaining J&C determination records and improving record accessibility
- Support the maintenance and availability of approved J&C determinations for authorized employees and business partners, as appropriate
- Assist with the preparation of Commodity Jurisdiction (CJ) requests and Commodity Classification Automated Tracking System (CCATS) submissions, as needed
- Coordinate J&C-related projects and initiatives, including scheduling, status tracking, progress reporting, and stakeholder communications
- Support the Global Trade Compliance J&C team by facilitating meetings, documenting decisions and action items, tracking follow-up activities, and assisting with the preparation of presentations and other program materials
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, International Business, Trade Compliance, Supply Chain, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting export compliance, jurisdiction and classification, trade compliance, or related export control activities
- Experience supporting or conducting jurisdiction and classification (J&C) activities for products, software, or technology within a regulated environment is required
- Experience supporting thermal imaging, aerospace, defense, electronics, or other highly regulated technical products is preferred
- Working knowledge of U.S., Canadian, UK, and EU export control regulations, including military and dual-use classification requirements
- Experience collaborating with engineering and technical teams to support classification determinations and regulatory compliance activities
- Experience developing or delivering training, guidance, or compliance-related communications preferred
- Strong project coordination and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex regulatory requirements to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Must qualify as a U.S. Person as defined by applicable U.S. export control regulations
Salary Range:
$77,900.00-$103,800.000The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, local regulations (such as minimum wage), education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
