What you need to know:
The Facultative Financial Lines Underwriter will be responsible for supporting the Facultative Desk Financial Lines Product Leader in the day to day underwriting and management of the overall Financial Lines portfolio written through the AIG FAC Desk - Latam including developing business development strategy, management of broker and distribution channels, budget and business planning functions and reporting, portfolio analytics, development and training of staff, and compliance of internal policies to achieve a sustainable and profitable regional portfolio, including but not limited to:
Underwriting
- Actively source business opportunities and underwrite FAC Financial Lines across LAC as per Business Plan objectives.
- Supports Product Leader with development, monitoring and influences the deployment of Financial Lines underwriting strategy, P&L, product development, executing upon agreed strategies within global ‘guardrails. This includes detailed monitoring standards / quality reviews to assess loss ratios and underwriting results as well as active portfolio management.
- Actively support development, position, market, and deliver innovative, market-leading products and services through a zonal framework to a network of producers in a manner that effectively leverages our strengths as a competitive differential in the marketplace.
- Drive underwriting excellence across the business by establishing and ensuring adherence to risk appetite, line setting, standards and guidelines, and ensure rating and pricing adequacy.
- Collaborate with Distribution and Territory Managers, and other line(s) of business underwriters to target desirable accounts and cross selling opportunities from brokers and cedents.
- Develop strong, long term relationships with brokers and clients to profitably grow a book of business.
- Provide superior customer service to brokers and clients.
Team & Operational Management
- Support Product Leader to drive continuous professional development of the Financial Lines team in the Facultative Reinsurance Desk.
- Ensures the required standards of governance, systems and controls, and regulatory compliance are established and maintained by team members for the Financial Lines division.
- Supports team in making business decisions that leverage their expertise and experience in combination with analytical models.
- Work with Claims, Finance, Operational, Accounting, Legal, and Actuarial support teams to support portfolio management functions.
- Drive a culture that promotes collaboration, diversity and inclusion.
- Support in the generation of key performance indicators including but not limited to monitoring of submission flow by distribution channels, effectiveness ratios, analysis of losses/ claims behaviors, among others.
- Support in the preparation of commercial presentations, marketing material and other initiatives as the business requires.
- Maintain updated underwriting files based on corporate guidelines.
What we’re looking for:
- Location: Bogota - Colombia
- University degree; Economics, Business Administration or Law degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years’ underwriting experience writing LAC Financial Lines.
- Facultative underwriting experience across LAC (Latin America Countries) markets with expert technical underwriting background in FAC Financial Lines.
- Expert working knowledge of LAC Financial Lines business product features, policy forms, and FAC regulatory environments.
- LAC FAC broker network with strong professional relationships with major FAC and wholesale reinsurance intermediaries in the region, as well as with customers and cedents.
- Knowledge of LAC FAC market segmentation, portfolio management, distribution channels and placement dynamics.
- Demonstrated business savvy, analytical and quantitative skills with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Fluency in English and Spanish.
- Proven track record of delivering profitable growth in Financial Lines LAC Facultative markets.
- Strong business acumen, with a proven track record of making sound judgment backed by strong analytical, quantitative, process and systems skills.
- Strategic and result oriented, managing vision and purpose.
- Strong influencing and communications skills, and ability to work collaboratively and manage stakeholders effectively in a matrix structure and across a wide geography.
