Description

PACIV, a global leader in industrial automation solutions servicing the Life Sciences sector, is seeking a Warehouse Design Lead to support the planning and design of warehouse and logistics facilities for pharmaceutical and capital projects. This role is responsible for developing warehouse layouts, coordinating multidisciplinary design teams, integrating automation and material handling systems, and ensuring designs meet operational, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Position Responsibilities / Essential Functions:
  • Lead the development and coordination of warehouse layouts, design concepts, and specifications.
  • Oversee warehouse design activities from conceptual design through detailed design and construction support.
  • Ensure warehouse design aligns with site infrastructure and overall facility requirements.
  • Coordinate with A/E firms and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Develop efficient layouts for receiving, storage, shipping, cold storage, flammable storage, quarantine, sampling, and inspection areas.
  • Optimize the flow of materials, personnel, and equipment throughout the warehouse.
  • Incorporate automation and material handling systems into warehouse designs, including ASRS, AGVs, conveyors, and pallet systems.
  • Coordinate with automation, robotics, Supply Chain, Warehouse Operations, Engineering, Quality, Construction, and Commissioning teams.
  • Ensure warehouse systems and layouts support operational and performance requirements.
  • Facilitate communication, decision-making, and alignment across project stakeholders.
  • Ensure designs comply with GMP, safety, regulatory, and corporate engineering standards.
  • Support design schedules, budget alignment, and overall project planning for the warehouse scope.
  • Identify and address design, constructability, equipment, and operational risks.
  • Provide design support during construction, commissioning, and qualification activities.
  • Resolve design issues and coordinate design changes with project teams.
  • Ensure the final warehouse design meets operational, performance, quality, and project requirements.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in industrial, pharmaceutical, logistics, warehouse, or large-scale facility design.
  • Experience leading or coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Experience developing warehouse layouts and material flow strategies.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse design, material handling, and facility integration.
Desired Skills:
  • Experience working in GMP or other regulated environments, preferably pharmaceutical or biotechnology.
  • Knowledge of warehouse automation technologies, including ASRS, AGVs, robotics, conveyors, and automated pallet handling.
  • Strong understanding of material flow and warehouse operational requirements.
  • Experience supporting large capital projects in EPCM, design-build, or similar project environments.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to balance operational needs, design requirements, automation, constructability, and project goals.
