S&B is actively searching for an experienced Crane and Rigging Planner to join our team in Houston, TX. The purpose of a Rigging Planner is to execute crane and rigging tasks safely and efficiently on S&B job sites. The Rigging Planner must be a moderator between corporate SME, engineering, safety, subcontracts, logistics, and site management. A rigging planner must be fluent in all applicable codes i.e., ASME/ANSI, OSHA, and S&B Construction Operations. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Must be able to plan rigging and lifting execution plans and able to build a lift plan package.
EDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent required. The required levels of the S&B Supervisors Academy must be completed within 90 days of hire or promotion to this position.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Have a minimum of 10+ years’ of crane and rigging experience.
- Must have understanding of crane load charts and be able to read and understand drawings.
- Understanding of the time it takes to perform crane and rigging tasks.
- Experience with the materials, tools, equipment, manpower and drawings necessary to perform crane and rigging tasks.
- Have a good understanding of the principles of planning and logic networking.
- AutoCAD experience required.
- Constructability knowledge preferred.
- Lift planning experience preferred.
- Be a team player.
- Hands on experience with the functions of a computer.
- Reasonable typing skills.
- Certifications preferred, crane and/or rigging.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist Crane and Rigging Superintendent and General Foreman in developing lift plans.
- Input data into Field Work Plan and generate three-week look-ahead.
- Monitor logistics and equipment arrivals to plan for proper crane and rigging to off load.
- Ensure that the right work is being selected to support project schedule.
- Ensure that the work planned is supported by the proper material.
- Ensure Superintendent know what rigging, bars are needed to peform planned crifical lifts.
- Assist Material Management in identifying material needs for the 90-day look-ahead
- Assist in developing alternatives to accommodate changes or plan failures
- Distribute work plans to other crafts and management to insure no interferences
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret engineering design drawings, technical procedures and specifications, government regulations, business correspondence and manuals. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures. Ability to communicate directions effectively verbally to crane and rigging supervisors and respond to questions from co-workers and managers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to calculate center of gravity.
- Know how to tension a rigging gear drawing preferred.
- Able to calculate ground bearing pressure (GBP).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance. Lifting up to 50 Lbs. Vision must be clear at close and distance with depth perception and the ability to focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Normal work environment will be construction sites within operating plants. This will require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals, and airborne particles.
