Description

Renewable energy projects must also secure land, grid access, permits, stakeholder support and a credible route to construction. We are interested in speaking with Development Managers who can bring those separate workstreams together and move projects forward.

This advert supports current and upcoming opportunities across Austin and the wider Texas renewable energy market. Positions may be available with developers, independent power producers, infrastructure investors and organisations building utility-scale solar, battery storage or hybrid energy projects.

The opportunity

Development Managers may take responsibility for projects from initial market assessment and site identification through late-stage development, investment approval or notice to proceed.

The exact remit will vary, but opportunities may involve:

  • Identifying and evaluating new solar, battery storage and hybrid project opportunities.
  • Managing site selection, land acquisition and lease negotiations.
  • Coordinating interconnection applications and grid-development activities.
  • Overseeing permitting, environmental studies and local approval processes.
  • Building relationships with landowners, communities, consultants and public authorities.
  • Managing project schedules, budgets, risks and development milestones.
  • Coordinating engineering, legal, commercial, finance and construction teams.
  • Reviewing project economics and supporting investment decisions.
  • Managing third-party consultants and specialist advisers.
  • Supporting power purchase agreements, offtake discussions and commercial strategy.
  • Preparing project updates for senior leadership and investment committees.
  • Supporting due diligence, acquisitions and the sale or financing of projects.
  • Identifying obstacles early and developing practical strategies to keep projects moving.

Your background

We would like to hear from professionals who have developed utility-scale energy or infrastructure projects in the United States.

Relevant experience may include:

  • Solar project development.
  • Battery energy storage.
  • Wind energy.
  • Transmission or grid infrastructure.
  • Independent power production.
  • Environmental permitting.
  • Land acquisition.
  • Energy-project finance or investment.
  • Infrastructure development.

Strong candidates are likely to demonstrate:

  • Experience managing multiple development workstreams.
  • Knowledge of land, permitting and interconnection processes.
  • The ability to manage consultants and external stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial judgement and financial awareness.
  • Confidence negotiating with landowners, partners and public bodies.
  • Experience maintaining project schedules, budgets and risk registers.
  • Clear written, presentation and stakeholder-management skills.
  • The ability to work independently in a fast-moving project environment.

Texas market knowledge would be particularly valuable, including familiarity with regional land, permitting, power-market or interconnection considerations.

Qualifications

A degree in engineering, environmental science, planning, business, finance, law or a related discipline may be preferred, although relevant project-development experience will be the most important consideration.

Location and travel

Opportunities will be centred around Austin, with project travel expected across Texas.

Candidates based in Austin, Round Rock, Georgetown, San Marcos or surrounding areas may be suitable. Some employers may also consider candidates elsewhere in Texas who can travel regularly.

Working arrangements may include office-based, hybrid or remote structures depending on the organisation and project portfolio.

Compensation

Base salary, annual bonus, project incentives, equity, healthcare, retirement benefits and paid leave will vary between employers.

The project portfolio, compensation package and working arrangements will be discussed before your information is shared for any opportunity.

Applications are welcomed from experienced renewable-energy developers and from professionals in adjacent infrastructure sectors who can demonstrate the ability to originate, progress and deliver complex projects.
