About the Role
Service Stream’s Utilities division are currently seeking a High Voltage & Hazardous Area Specialist to join our growing company.
The High Voltage team provides expertise in the management of high voltage assets across Urban Utilities operational facilities, to provide water and wastewater services to our customers. This includes:
- maintenance of existing HV assets,
- upgrades to existing HV assets, and
- delivery of new HV assets.
- Coordinate and assist with emergency switching as required
- After-Hours phone availability/support
The Hazardous Area team provides expertise in the management of hazardous area assets across Urban Utilities operational facilities, to provide water and wastewater services to our customers. This includes:
- maintenance of existing HA assets,
- upgrades to existing HA assets
- delivery of new HA assets.
- Compliance and record management of HA installations
The focus of this role is to lead teams to ensure HV and HA assets are maintainable. and operable, and working with stakeholders to ensure that safety, customer and environmental risks are effectively managed.
Nature of position: Permanent, Full Time
Location: Brisbane, QLD
Reporting Line: Operations Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the operational and maintenance design reviews for new HV and HA assets.
- Holistic management of specialist subcontractors, suppliers and consultants.
- High Voltage outage planning and management of internal external requirements and associated stakeholders.
- Development of High Voltage switching programs.
- Provide subject matter expertise to respond to HV and or HA enquiries.
- Provide expert operations & maintenance input into HV and HA asset planning, renewals and creation processes and asset management policies, strategies & plans.
- Communicate / negotiate with internal and external stakeholders whilst representing and effectively managing the interests of Urban Utilities.
- Lead the development / use of information and management systems for the delivery of operational activities and programs.
- Lead the effective delivery of work programs, identifying deficiencies and influencing corrective actions as required.
- Identify and lead Business Unit and Group improvement initiatives regarding electrical, HV and HA services.
- Identify and effectively report on capability gaps in processes, systems and team capability.
- Lead the development of operations and safety compliance plans for HV and HA projects with team co-ordination and interaction with Project Delivery teams to deliver legislative and Urban Utilities compliant and operational safety in design as per Urban Utilities Technical Specifications.
- Assistance and administration in consultation with client management requirements for HV asset numbering and registration of asset numbers for works and services involving HV elements.
- Assistance and administration in consultation with client management requirements for HA asset numbering and registration of asset numbers for works and services involving HA elements.
- Management of HV installation Single Line Diagrams.
- Participate in after hours roster
About You
- Electrical Engineering Degree or Electrical Trade Certificate-3 or Certificate-4
- Unrestricted Electrical License (QLD).
- RPEQ (Desirable)
- HV Switching, Access Permit Issuer & Recipient certificates.
- Valid driver’s license
- A minimum of 10 years’ electrical experience including high voltage background specializing in outage planning and High Voltage Electrician subcontractor management.
- Experience with Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas or willingness to undertake training in this area
- Highly developed problem solving, lateral thinking, communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Highly developed skills and experience in dealing with customer, stakeholder and regulator issues
- High developed skills and experience in coaching and mentoring staff
