Description
GENERAL PURPOSE:
Performs custodial work to assure all building rooms and facilities are clean, orderly, and in good condition; assists staff in event preparation, execution, and tear down, and may perform minor maintenance duties.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the general supervision of the Parks Maintenance Supervisor, Park Operations Manager, and/or Parks & Recreation Director.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
May serve as lead worker overseeing part time workers.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
Will be required to work variable shifts and rotating days.
Provides all janitorial and custodial duties for all facilities at The Peak Sports & Entertainment Complex including but not limited to:
- Cleans and stocks restrooms.
- Moves desks, file cabinets, or similar items to rearrange office space to perform cleaning duties.
- Uses brooms, mops, dustpans, and similar equipment to clean floors.
- Opens and secures buildings.
- Washes windows; dusts, performs similar tasks.
- Cleans and polishes hard surface floors using power scrubbers, vacuum and buffers, empties trash receptacles.
- May perform minor maintenance tasks such as oiling power buffers, replaces light bulbs, minor plumbing repairs and assist with minor construction repairs.
- Assists with snow removal; assists with the maintenance of the grounds at the The Peak Sports & Entertainment Complex.
- May be required to maintain records such as a tracking of when carpets are cleaned; inventory cleaning supplies; and may assist with timecard record keeping for department staff if requested.
- May assist with turf work, mowing, weeding, trimming, etc. at The Peak.
- Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and experience
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- Three (3) years of experience performing custodial duties where the use of power buffers or scrubbers can be demonstrated. Ability to work without supervision.
Working knowledge of building utilities, maintenance repair problems and techniques; working knowledge of safety precautions around power hand tools and medium duty equipment; working knowledge of floor cleaning agents.
Skilled in using hand tools; skilled in operating power floor cleaning equipment.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and members of the public.
This category involves frequent lifting of 25-50 pounds with occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds or more. This is often combined with bending, twisting, or working on irregular surfaces or at heights above the ground.
