About The Position
The Accountant supports day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting. This position contributes to the preparation of financial statements, cash management activities, audit support, and process improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and strengthen financial stewardship across the ecosystem. The Accountant performs established accounting activities, resolves routine accounting issues, and escalates non-routine or complex matters as appropriate.
Success in this role requires practical accounting experience, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations to support the accuracy of general ledger and balance sheet account balances.
- Prepare and post periodic journal entries.
- Complete assigned month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close tasks to support timely financial reporting.
- Support the preparation of financial statements, management reports, and board meeting materials.
- Develop and maintain process documentation for assigned accounting activities.
- Support tax and audit preparation with external partners by providing documentation and transaction details as needed.
- Ensure accounting activities and financial reporting follow established processes and procedures and comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Identify and resolve routine accounting discrepancies and issues in accordance with established procedures, escalating non-routine or complex matters as appropriate.
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with team members to support finance and accounting projects.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support evolving organizational needs.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required.
- 1–3 years of accounting experience, including experience with reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close, financial controls, or related accounting activities.
- Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- Experience working within enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems; Workday experience preferred.
- Strong professionalism and diplomacy, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

Physical demands: In the work environment described, this position requires utilizing a computer and a telephone for prolonged periods of time, good hand-eye coordination, bending and stretching, and the physical stamina to lift and transport a minimum of 10 pounds. Work environment: Work is performed on-site (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.) in a professional, climate-controlled office environment with standard office equipment, including computers, printers, and telephones. This role requires working in an open setting near colleagues. The noise level is typically low to moderate. The role also requires interaction with both the public and internal team members in a professional and courteous manner. Some travel will be required and a flexible schedule may be necessary to accommodate business needs, including occasional evening and weekend work hours.
