Lead Complex Projects from Preconstruction Through Turnover
Etzel Engineer and Build, Inc. is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to lead complex design-build, mission-critical, data center, healthcare, and commercial construction projects.
This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects from preconstruction and design coordination through construction, commissioning, and final turnover. The Project Manager will work closely with clients, design teams, field leadership, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.

What You’ll Do
- Manage design-build construction projects from preconstruction through final turnover.
- Lead preconstruction efforts to identify and resolve constructability, budget, scheduling, and coordination issues.
- Manage all major aspects of assigned projects, including design coordination, bidding, procurement, scheduling, financial performance, and construction.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, progress reports, financial projections, meeting minutes, and other key project documentation.
- Procure materials and equipment and manage relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
- Coordinate closely with Superintendents and field teams throughout construction.
- Manage client relationships, communicate project progress, and set clear expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead design-build estimating efforts and work with design teams to ensure projects remain aligned with established budgets.
- Identify value-engineering opportunities, potential project risks, and alternative construction means and methods.
- Review post-award subcontract agreements and negotiate final subcontract terms.
- Monitor project costs, forecasts, commitments, and overall financial performance.
- Coordinate engineering and construction activities from initial concept through completion.
- Oversee project commissioning, system start-up, closeout, and turnover.
- Stay current on construction materials, methods, technologies, and costs to help maintain Etzel’s competitive edge.
- Assist in developing new client relationships and future project opportunities.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of commercial construction experience, preferably in Project Management or a similar construction leadership role.
- Experience managing design-build construction projects from preconstruction through completion.
- Mission-critical, data center, high-reliability, healthcare, or technically complex construction experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with complex building systems and a strong understanding of MEP coordination.
- Strong understanding of construction estimating, scheduling, procurement, subcontractor management, and project financials.
- Ability to manage multiple complex priorities and issues simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate project challenges and develop practical solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to confidently interact with clients, owners, designers, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
- Experience reviewing and negotiating subcontract agreements.
- Familiarity with construction estimates organized in CSI format.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Microsoft Project, Adobe Acrobat, and other construction management technology.
- Experience with Sage 100 is a plus.
