We are currently looking for qualified applicants to fill the following position: High School Music Teacher
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Generate, prepare and teach curriculum for Music. Prepare musical programs and/or concerts. Direct Choir and Band.
Essential Functions:
• Talent for communicating with children and encouraging their academic and artistic success.
• High level of patience and creativity encourage participation and love for music.
Other Duties:
• Lead group study, discussion, and demonstration.
• Develop an interesting and interactive classroom learning environment.
• Prepare materials for successful delivery of lessons.
• Motivate students to participate and engage in learning in a clean and disciplined environment.
• Guide students as they incorporate and practice the concepts presented.
• Maintain a gradebook through FACTS.
• Communicate with parents through email, phone, and in-person conferences.
• Evaluate and observe students’ musical gifts and talents.
• Direct choir and band.
• Direct Chapel worship, programs and concerts, which will require occasional after-school hours.
• Work effectively with colleagues and administration.
Qualifications: The Music Teacher must:
• Have a personal relationship with Christ.
• Possess a sound knowledge of music theory with an extensive understanding of the subject matter.
• Have an engaging approach, recognizing that students learn in a variety of ways.
• Be a motivator; finding creative ways to assist students in their individual learning capacities.
• Be constantly learning and developing his/her approach and skills.
• Possess a Bachelor of Science in Music Education or Performance. (Education certificate preferable)
• Demonstrate ability to work independently.
• Be able to manage multiple tasks.
• Possess sound judgment.
• Provide PA state-mandated clearances
