Description
The Quantitative Equity Trader (Americas Markets) will be an integral member of the Equity Trading Team at Dodge & Cox. The Equity Trading team is responsible for implementing tactical and investment decisions in markets globally. It is comprised of creative problem solvers who not only execute trades but also work closely with investment committee members, research analysts, portfolio implementation and trade analytics and strategy teams to understand investment objectives to develop strategic approaches to source liquidity.
The Quantitative Equity Trader (Americas Markets) will be an integral part of a strong teamwork culture where collaboration and cooperation drive communication and the decision-making process. He or she will primarily trade US market hours which translate to working from 5:00am to 2:00pm San Francisco time.

Key Responsibilities
- Implement investment policy decisions and cash flow trades by leveraging data and quantitative methods
- Advocate changes to trading strategies and processes to achieve better trade execution outcomes for clients
- Partner with trade strategy team to develop and enhance execution strategies: by customizing broker algorithms and pre- / post- trade analytics to improve trade performance
- Collaborate with the trade strategy team to build a quantitative trading framework to identify trade signals using market data. Lead and help equity traders to incorporate the trading signals into their trading workflow
- Develop and execute equity-linked currencies and currency hedging strategies
- Develop and manage broker relationships to source liquidity
- Communicate market and execution updates verbally and in writing to other traders, research analysts, portfolio managers and policy committee members
- Provide equity trading presentations to existing and potential clients and consultants
- Collaborate with other traders and the Operations, Legal/Compliance, and IT departments on ad-hoc projects
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Ability and desire to work in a team-oriented environment
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
Qualifications
- Preferred 3-5 years' experience trading US, Canada and Latin America markets on either the buyside or sell side
- A strong academic record; MFE/MBA preferred
- CFA designation or interest in obtaining the CFA designation
- Quantitative trading experience. Solid understanding of trading algorithms and statistical modelling preferred
- Deep knowledge of US market microstructure and exchange rules and regulations
- Advanced working knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint. Python or R preferred
- Experience analyzing trade executions and performance
- Willingness and flexibility to cover different markets and trading hours
- Familiarity with modern AI tools and frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, LLM-based tools) to accelerate research, prototyping, and workflow automation
The salary range for this position is $150,000k - $175,000k.
The listed pay scale denotes only the pay range of the base salary and does not include discretionary bonus compensation, which may make up an important portion of the total remuneration.
