Pega Senior Developer

The Digital Sector at Leidos currently has an opening for a Pega Senior Developer to work in our Baltimore, Maryland office.  This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) implement AI-driven capabilities and intelligent automation for the modernization of its legacy Contact Center CRM platform.    

Primary Responsibilities

 

The Pega Senior Developer shall lead development of the AI-driven capabilities and Robotic Process Automation (RPA)/automation features required by the CRM modernization effort.

 

Responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to:

• Lead Pega development of the AI-driven capabilities defined in the SOO: Predictive Intent Recognition, Intelligent Knowledge Surfacing, AI-Driven Workflow Suggestions, Omnichannel Case Summarization, CSR Coaching Analytics, and Role-Based AI Dashboards.
• Design and develop Pega RPA bots to replace legacy mainframe screen-scraping integrations, ensuring reliable, low-risk automation of CMS mainframe transactions.
• Architect and build automated workflows, case types, and business rules within the Pega Platform to support CCOG-approved business functions and streamline CSR case handling.
• Lead technical design and implementation of AI-enabled guided workflows, knowledge recommendation surfacing, and next-best-action capabilities within the CSR workspace.
• Implement predictive intent recognition and interaction summarization features leveraging Pega’s native AI/decisioning capabilities and integrated AI/large language model (LLM) services.
• Develop CSR coaching analytics capabilities, including sentiment analysis, script adherence tracking, and supervisor dashboards.
• Build and maintain role-based, interactive dashboards providing AI-surfaced insights filterable by segment, time frame, and case type, with role-based data access controls.
• Support the AI Feature Roadmap by translating prioritized AI capabilities into sprint-level user stories, technical designs, and working software demonstrated in sprint reviews.
• Design and develop Pega components (data objects, case types, business rules, integrations, UI) supporting the Unified CSR Workspace, Beneficiary/Consumer 360 view, and Knowledge Management.
• Lead configuration-first, low-code/no-code development practices, minimizing custom code and ensuring all customizations are documented and COR-reviewed.
• Develop and maintain API-first integrations between Pega and CMS systems of record (e.g., Medicare Claims & Beneficiary Systems, Marketplace & Enrollment Systems).
• Support Definition of Done criteria, ensuring all Pega development is unit tested, integrated, security scanned, and validated prior to release.
• Partner with the Pega Lead System Architect, AI/Innovation Lead, and Product Manager to translate AI Compliance and Risk Management Plan requirements into technical implementations, including bias mitigation and governance controls.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to Pega developers on AI feature development, RPA automation, and platform best practices.
• Support Proof of Concept (PoC) demonstrations of case management, knowledge integration, and AI features.
• Troubleshoot and resolve defects in Pega-based AI, automation, and case management components, supporting production support and hypercare activities.
• Ensure Pega development adheres to FedRAMP High, Zero Trust, and Section 508 accessibility requirements.
• Support performance tuning of Pega-based AI features and automation to meet the ≥90% AI Feature Accuracy SLA and platform performance standards.
• Document technical designs, RPA bot logic, and AI feature configurations to support requirements traceability and the Transition-Out Plan.
• Collaborate with the Release Train Engineer and Agile delivery teams during PI planning, sprint planning, and sprint reviews to align AI/RPA development with release schedules.
• Communicate technical status, risks, and dependencies related to AI and automation development to CMS leadership, and Leidos management.
• Actively participate in planning sessions, requirements gathering activities, design sessions, Agile sessions, and other events supporting the CRM modernization effort.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8-10 years of relevant software development experience, including significant Pega Platform development experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Pega Certified Senior System Architect (PCSSA) or higher certification
• Experience implementing AI-enabled features (e.g., predictive analytics, NLP, decisioning, next-best-action) within the Pega Platform
• Ability to obtain Public Trust

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Pega Certified Lead System Architect (CLSA)
• Experience with Pega GenAI, Pega Knowledge Buddy, or integrating large language models (LLMs) within Pega applications
• Experience with case management, workflow automation, and low-code/no-code configuration-first development
• Experience with API-first integration patterns and event-driven architecture within Pega
• Experience developing Pega RPA bots and automating complex, multi-step business processes, including mainframe/screen-scraping replacement
• Experience with Agile/Scrum or SAFe delivery methodologies
• Experience supporting CMS or other federal health/human services modernization programs

Pay Range:

Pay Range $131,300.00 - $237,350.00
