Description

Overview

At Diversicare, we are on a mission to improve every life we touch by providing exceptional healthcare and exceeding expectations. We believe that caring for our team members is just as important as caring for our residents. Guided by our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Compassion, Teamwork, and Stewardship, we provide high-quality post-acute and long-term care across 43 centers in five states.

The Opportunity

Are you a strategic risk leader ready to elevate enterprise safety to the next level?

As our Director of Workers’ Compensation, Safety & Loss Prevention, you will be the primary architect and driver of Diversicare’s safety culture. You will own our claims lifecycle, pioneer proactive injury prevention strategies, and ensure regulatory excellence across all facilities. If you thrive on transforming data into actionable risk-mitigation strategies and passionate team advocacy, this role is built for you.

Responsibilities

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Drive Claims Excellence: Direct the full, end-to-end workers' compensation claims lifecycle, from rapid initial reporting and thorough investigations to return-to-work programs and strategic claim closure.
  • Cultivate High-Value Partnerships: Collaborate with TPAs, carriers, legal counsel, and care providers to design aggressive cost-containment and settlement approaches.
  • Champion Enterprise Safety: Lead an unwavering safety culture across all centers. Keep us ahead of federal and state OSHA requirements, logs (300/300A), and environmental safety assessments.
  • Leverage Predictive Data: Turn claims metrics and safety trends into clear executive dashboards that spark proactive risk reduction for executive leadership and regional QAPI teams.
  • Empower Field Operations: Inspire local safety committees, conduct high-impact audits, deliver engaging training, and manage regulatory inspections with swift corrective action plans.

Qualifications

What You Bring

  • Experience: 7+ years of progressive leadership spanning risk management, healthcare safety, and multi-state workers' compensation (long-term care experience strongly preferred).
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep operational mastery of multi-state workers' compensation laws, OSHA standards, and safety committee management. Proficient in MS Office Suite and virtual collaboration tools like Zoom.
  • Certifications: Safety or risk management certifications (e.g., CSP, ARM) are a major bonus.
  • Physical & Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel up to 30% for center visits. Ability to move freely through facilities (walking, standing, kneeling, and lifting up to 25 lbs) during hands-on safety audits.

What We Offer You

  • Health & Wellness: Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision plans; Company-paid Life Insurance; Short- and Long-Term Disability coverage.
  • Financial Future: High-matching 401(k) plan and instant pay access via OnShift Wallet.
  • Work-Life Balance: Generous paid Vacation, Sick Time, and Recognized Holidays.
  • Continuous Growth & Care: Tuition Reimbursement, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and direct support through the DiversICARE Employee Hardship Fund.
