The Role and Why It's Important

Our Greeters set the tone for the entire shopping experience the moment a customer walks through the door. In this role, you'll be the first friendly face customers see, ready with a warm welcome, a prepared cart, and a genuine desire to make their visit a great one.

What You'll Do

No two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:

• Greet every customer with a smile as they enter the store, learning their names and making each interaction warm and welcoming

• Ready carts for customers as they enter the store

• Check receipts of customers who set off electronic devices when exiting the store

• Note and pass along customer suggestions or requests and perform other tasks to enhance the shopping experience

• Answer the telephone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to customers who call

• Assist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assigned

• Maintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines

• Report to work when scheduled and on time

Your Skills

To be successful, you'll need to be able to:

• Solve practical problems and interpret instructions across a variety of situations

• Perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages

• Guide customers and provide clear, helpful direction in a friendly and professional manner

• Communicate effectively with customers and team members to support a positive store environment

Reporting Relationships

Accountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home; Service Managers

Education and Experience

• No education requirement; six months or less of related work experience preferred

Physical Requirements

• Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas

• Where applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation

• Where applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment

• Where applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards

• Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties

Working Environment

This role is performed in a store environment where you will be on your feet throughout your shift. You will have occasional exposure to equipment movement hazards and cleaning chemicals or solvents. Safety is always a priority, and training is provided to help ensure a safe and supportive work environment.

The anticipated hourly starting wage for this position is $13.00 to $16.25 depending on experience.
