Summary
It is the responsibility of the Public Finance Analyst on SouthState Securities’ Public Finance team to help provide investment banking solutions for the complex financing needs of the firm’s public sector clients throughout the country. This position will provide an opportunity to build technical public finance expertise and allow for collaboration with bankers, underwriters, sales/trading, marketing, and clients.
Duties & Responsibilities
Develop customized financial models using Excel to develop bond financing structures.
Utilize industry-approved third-party programs (Munex/Adaje) to prepare bond structures
Support bond pricing, refunding, analyses, debt service modeling, yield calculations, and evaluation of market conditions for municipal financing opportunities.
Analyze and compare alternative financing structures and assist bankers in developing customized solutions for issuer needs.
Prepare responses to requests for proposals required as part of the solicitation process.
Prepare presentation materials, including regular market updates, used by bankers and senior management for client meetings and participate in client presentations, as required.
Participate in client meetings, financing discussions, and presentations with municipal issuers and other transaction stakeholders.
Assist in all phases of municipal bond transactions from initial financing analysis through pricing and closing.
Support enhancements to internal financial models, templates, and analytical processes to improve efficiency and consistency.
Maintain familiarity with municipal finance regulations, disclosure requirements, and industry best practices.

Qualifications
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree with coursework in finance or economics, or equivalent work experience in investment banking, municipal finance, accounting, credit, financial analyst or capital markets.
Minimum Experience
0-2 years related experience and/or training.
Licenses & Certifications
SIE and FINRA Series 50, 52 and 63 licenses required or the successful completion of exams within 90 days of hire.

Must be well-organized, accurate and attentive to detail and committed to producing high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to prioritize competing assignments and function well under pressure.
Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex financial concepts clearly.
Advance proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Must have the ability to develop strong professional relationships with clients, colleagues and transaction participants.
