Description
• Overhauls all major components which include engines, transmissions, clutches, brakes, air conditioning units, differentials, etc.
• Repairs and rebuilds carburetors, front ends, alternators, and hydraulic systems.
• Obtains estimates on repair of wrecked vehicles as required.
• Performs major tune-ups for diesel engines, replacing and checking injectors, adjusting valves and timing on engines.
• Services and performs preventive maintenance on city-owned vehicles which includes checking all fluid levels, changing oil and filters, checking and rotating tires, repairing lights, etc.
• Conducts inspections on vehicles.
• Utilizes brake lathe, electrical tester, engine analyzer, mechanics tools, battery and alternator, etc., in repairing diagnosing, and performing preventive maintenance work on city-owned vehicles and equipment.
• Maintains air compressors, lawn mowers and tractors and perform repairs and preventive maintenance to same.
• Makes road calls. Delivers and picks up vehicles.
• Receives and handles complaints providing assistance, information, and solutions as needed.
• Performs related work as assigned.• Vocational or technical school graduate or equivalent.
• Two (2) years of experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Automotive and Diesel Mechanic Certification.
• Commercial Driver’s License required.Salary depends upon experience. Starting salary is $42,536 annually.
