Job Description

As a Security Officer Transitional Shelter in South Ozone Park, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Transitional Shelters. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer in a shelter setting, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, and support a welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff. What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers by carrying out site-specific procedures, access-control practices, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Respond to incidents, resident concerns, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate site contacts and emergency services as directed.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of the shelter location, including interior common areas, entrances, exits, and perimeter areas, to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
• Monitor access points, verify visitor and vendor authorization according to site procedures, and maintain accurate logs and incident documentation.
• Communicate professionally with a diverse residential population and support a respectful, orderly environment while following Allied Universal and client policies.

Minimum Requirements:

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
