Semi-Competitive Basketball Coach

Are you passionate about basketball and making a positive impact on young athletes? Join our team at the Beaverton YMCA, one of the premier basketball facilities in Oregon, as a Semi-Competitive Basketball Coach for our Fall 2026 Developmental Basketball League. 

This is a seasonal position with the potential to grow into a permanent part-time or full-time role. 

Season Details

• Season Dates: Sept 14th - Nov 14th, 2026 
• Age Groups: 10-14 years old
• Program Type: Developmental / Semi-Competitive  
• Team Size: Approximately 10 players per team

Schedule & Commitment

Practices (Sept 14th - Nov 11th, 2026)

• Mondays & Wednesdays 
• 60-minute sessions at 5:00 PM, 6:00 PM, or 7:00 PM 
• Location: Beaverton YMCA

Games (Sept 26th - Nov 14th, 2026)

• Saturdays between 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM 
• One game per team each week (game times vary) 
• Saturday availability is required 
• Location: Beaverton YMCA 

Key Responsibilities

• Teach fundamental basketball skills (dribbling, shooting, passing, defense) 
• Plan and conduct engaging, development-focused practices 
• Provide instruction, encouragement, and feedback during games 
• Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive team environment 
• Monitor player development and provide constructive feedback 
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants

Qualifications

• Previous coaching or youth sports experience preferred 
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals and game play 
• Excellent communication and leadership skills 
• Ability to motivate and manage groups of young athletes 
• Experience in other sports or youth activities is a plus 
• CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain
• Must pass YMCA background check

Location Requirement

• Must be able to commute or relocate to Beaverton, OR 97005 prior to start date
