Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our growing Finance team. This role is responsible for maintaining the general ledger, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of month-end and year-end close activities.
The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with strong accounting knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
What You'll Do:
- Support month-end and year-end close activities.
- Prepare and post general ledger journal entries, including cash transactions, accruals, prepaid expenses, intercompany expenses, bad debt reserves, and other accounting activities.
- Record and reconcile daily cash activity.
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial statements and reporting.
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations within established deadlines.
- Manage fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, sales, and monthly depreciation.
- Collaborate with Accounts Payable to ensure accurate expense coding.
- Work closely with Accounts Receivable to ensure customer payments are properly posted and reconciled with cash activity.
- Assist with ad hoc reporting, analysis, and special projects.
- Support the development and documentation of accounting procedures and best practices.
- Provide backup support for various accounting functions as needed.
- Contribute to department goals while managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
What We're Looking For:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or other related field
- Working knowledge of GAAP and accrual-based accounting principles.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUPs.
- Ability to manage priorities and adapt to changing business needs.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Quick learner with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or other general ledger/accounting systems.
- Experience reviewing financial statements and performing account reconciliations.
- Fixed asset accounting experience.
