N-iX is looking for Lead DevOps Engineer (AWS Migration & Security) - to join the team
About the client
Our client is a leading European online car marketplace, serving over 30 million monthly users across 18 countries. As a Lead DevOps Engineer – AWS Migration & Security, you will play a pivotal role in modernizing the platform that powers their business — migrating core services to AWS and strengthening the security posture that protects their customers and data at scale.
About the role
We are looking for two experienced engineers to drive a cloud migration and security-hardening initiative through the end of the year. This is a hybrid role, split roughly 50/50 between SRE/operations work and hands-on software development. You will work cross-functionally with multiple teams, migrating services to AWS while identifying and remediating security issues along the way. This role suits someone who is equally comfortable writing Terraform as they are debugging application code, and who enjoys the pace and ownership that comes with a focused, time-boxed engagement.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute the migration of existing services to AWS, with a focus on ECS, RDS, and AWS networking (VPC, subnets, security groups, load balancing)
- Identify, prioritize, and remediate security vulnerabilities; apply security fixes and patches across infrastructure and application layers
- Build and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform and configuration management with Ansible
- Contribute hands-on application development and code changes in PHP and/or Python to support migration and security work
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to coordinate migration cutovers with minimal disruption
- Document migration runbooks, infrastructure changes, and security remediation work
Requirements:
- 6+ years of commercial DevOps experience
- AWS certification: Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional) or AWS Certified Developer, backed by proven hands-on experience with AWS in production environments — particularly ECS, RDS, and networking; multi-account experience is a plus
- Strong infrastructure-as-code skills with Terraform; working experience with Ansible
- Solid software development experience in PHP, Python, or TypeScript, with the ability to read, modify, and ship production code
- Experience with cloud migration projects (lift-and-shift and/or re-platforming)
- Practical security experience: vulnerability assessment, patching, hardening, and remediation
- Comfort working across teams and codebases in a cross-functional setting
- Availability to work Toronto timezone (EST/EDT) business hours
- Excellent English communication skills
Nice to have:
- Experience with containerization and Docker in production
- CI/CD pipeline design and maintenance
- Familiarity with compliance or security frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, CIS benchmarks)
- Prior experience in contract or consulting engagements with defined deliverables
We offer*:
- Flexible working format - remote, office-based or flexible
- A competitive salary and good compensation package
- Personalized career growth
- Professional development tools (mentorship program, tech talks and trainings, centers of excellence, and more)
- Active tech communities with regular knowledge sharing
- Education reimbursement
- Memorable anniversary presents
- Corporate events and team buildings
- Other location-specific benefits
