A DAY IN THE LIFE:
The Corporate Paralegal I works under the umbrella of the Chief Legal, Privacy and Compliance Officer through the Senior Manager, Legal Operations. This role provides administrative and paralegal support to corporate attorneys, other legal department staff, and various business managers throughout the company. Assists with preparation and coordination of documentation for general legal matters, including contract administration, contract lifecycle management, corporate compliance, and legal operations activities. Supports attorneys with drafting, reviewing, organizing, and maintaining legal documentation and assists with legal department technology systems and process improvement initiatives.The Corp PL role at Tandem is also responsible for;
Contract Administration and Management
- Assists attorneys and paralegals with the preparation, review, processing, and administration of agreements.
- Coordinates with cross-functional teams, including IT, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Human Resources regarding legal requests and contract workflows.
- Creates and maintains contract records within the contract lifecycle management system.
- Maintains contract files and ensures documentation is electronically stored in a consistent and organized manner.
- Responds to routine inquiries regarding contract status and administrative processes.
Legal Department Operations
- Supports legal department processes, playbooks, knowledge management initiatives, and operational improvements.
- Works within legal matter management systems to create, organize, and maintain matter records and summaries.
- Performs basic legal and regulatory research as assigned.
- Assists with maintaining corporate records, registrations, and compliance documentation.
- Supports implementation and administration of legal department technology solutions.
- Performs notary services, if commissioned and required.
- Demonstrates sound judgment in identifying issues requiring escalation to attorneys or management.
- Participates in departmental projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensures compliance with company policies, including Privacy/HIPAA and other legal and regulatory requirements.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Paralegal certificate required or obtained within a reasonable period following hire.
- Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and applicable experience, bachelor's degree preferred.
- 1–3 years of paralegal, contract administration, legal operations, or related experience.
- Experience supporting attorneys in a corporate legal department or law firm preferred.
- Healthcare industry experience preferred but not required.
- Experience with legal matter management or contract lifecycle management systems preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to gather, organize, and synthesize information from multiple sources.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish collaborative working relationships across the organization.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new systems and processes.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and prioritize competing deadlines.
- Familiarity with administrative and clerical processes within a corporate legal environment.
- Basic knowledge of contract administration and legal documentation.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Copilot.
WHEN & WHERE YOU’LL WORK:
Hybrid: This role will be a mix of in-office work at our corporate headquarters in Del Mar, CA and remote work. This position is expected to be in office 2-3 days per week but may vary depending on business demands.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The starting base pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00 per hour. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate’s location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes bonus and a robust benefits package.
