At Asda, we're committed to ensuring every pound we spend delivers value for our customers and our business. We're looking for a Travel & Expenses Transformation Consultant to lead the end-to-end transformation of our travel and expenses ecosystem, helping us simplify processes, strengthen controls, improve visibility of spend and build a more cost-conscious culture across the organisation.
This role will be responsible for identifying and resolving the root causes behind travel and expense inefficiencies - working across Finance, Procurement, Technology, People and Shared Services to deliver sustainable change. From colleague booking journeys and approval processes through to system integration, supplier management and spend governance, you will own the roadmap to create a simpler, more effective and better controlled travel and expenses environment.
This is a high-profile transformation role requiring someone who is comfortable operating in ambiguity, influencing senior stakeholders and driving complex change programmes from diagnosis through to implementation. The role will require regular travel to our Home Office in Leeds and key stakeholder locations as required.
What You Will Be Responsible For
  • Build and lead a comprehensive Travel & Expenses transformation programme, creating a clear roadmap to improve processes, controls, systems and colleague experience.
  • Review and redesign end-to-end travel and expense processes, identifying opportunities to simplify ways of working and remove inefficiencies.
  • Improve visibility of travel and expense spend, ensuring leaders have greater transparency and accountability for costs across their teams.
  • Implement effective governance and approval processes, ensuring appropriate controls are in place while maintaining a positive colleague experience.
  • Work closely with Finance, Procurement, Technology and People teams to resolve process, policy and system challenges across the travel and expenses landscape.
  • Review supplier relationships and commercial arrangements, identifying opportunities to improve value, service and contractual outcomes.
  • Improve data quality and reporting, creating meaningful insights that support decision making and cost management.
  • Lead the resolution of organisational hierarchy, approval and cost allocation challenges to improve ownership and accountability of spend.
  • Develop and embed clear travel and expense policies that are understood, accessible and consistently applied across the business.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to challenge existing behaviours and drive a stronger culture of cost consciousness.
  • Establish clear measures of success, tracking delivery against agreed financial, operational and colleague experience outcomes.
  • Lead change management, communications and engagement activity to ensure sustainable adoption of new processes and behaviours.
  • Benchmark Asda's travel and expenses approach against external best practice and bring recommendations to improve performance.
About You – We Are Looking for Someone Who…
  • Has significant experience leading business transformation, process improvement or change programmes within a large, complex organisation.
  • Can quickly diagnose complex problems, identify root causes and create practical solutions that deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Is a highly effective project and programme manager, capable of managing multiple workstreams and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Demonstrates excellent stakeholder management skills and is confident influencing at all levels of the organisation, including senior leadership.
  • Has strong commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to identify opportunities to reduce cost and improve value.
  • Is driven by outcomes and comfortable taking ownership for delivering change from strategy through to implementation.
  • Can balance control and governance requirements with colleague experience and operational practicality.
  • Has strong analytical skills and is comfortable working with data to identify trends, opportunities and risks.
  • Is resilient, adaptable and able to navigate ambiguity while maintaining momentum and focus.
  • Has excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys tackling complex operational and cultural challenges.
Desirable Experience
  • Travel management, procurement or expenses management experience.
  • Working knowledge of travel or expense management systems such as Egencia, SAP Concur or similar platforms.
  • Finance controls, governance or compliance experience.
  • Shared Services or operational transformation experience.
  • Lean, Six Sigma or continuous improvement qualifications.
  • Experience delivering system, process or organisational change in a large corporate environment.
Why This Role Matters
This is an opportunity to lead a business-wide transformation that will impact thousands of colleagues across Asda. You'll help create a more efficient, cost-conscious and accountable approach to travel and expenses, delivering meaningful financial benefits whilst improving the colleague experience.
If you enjoy fixing complex problems, challenging the status quo and driving tangible business outcomes, we'd love to hear from you.
