Position Summary

Under the guidance, and with the support of various stakeholders in community, student, and alumni relations and external affairs, the Communications Coordinator is responsible for supporting, creating, and executing internal and external communications. The Coordinator generates targeted messaging to various stakeholder audiences, including staff, faculty, students, alumni, and other key audiences to amplify and elevate communications. This content includes social media, digital assets, and posts. The Coordinator is responsible for developing organic communications aimed at various audiences. The Coordinator requires the ability to use various communication platforms for creating and editing a wide array of channels. They will assist with planning and tracking internal and external communications within established protocols. The Coordinator will have the ability to prioritize projects and manage them while meeting tight deadlines and graphic design standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Supports the department with internal and external communications to enhance communications and messaging to strategy and objectives.
  • Writes and edits clear persuasive copy across multiple channels at high standards.
  • Identifies, researches, writes, and edits copy for various web-based, communication, print, and related marketing materials.
  • Ensures that deliverables align with brand messaging, research, and insights; and are complete and accurate and consistent in style, quality, and tone of voice.
  • Uses various software to create original content for newsletters and social media.
  • Develops graphic designs for newsletters, social media posts, and other external and internal communications to various stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with colleagues and other stakeholders to fully understand objectives, and offer insights, recommendations and potential solutions.
  • Establishes communication vehicles, cadence and guidelines to follow communications protocol strategies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Marketing, English or related field required.
  • 1-2 years relevant experience in communications, media production, and social media required.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong writing and overall communication skills required.

  • Knowledge and application of current and best practice approaches to cascading information and developing communication processes within a complex organizational matrix.
  • Ability to identify and develop content and communications reflecting institutional messaging priorities.
  • Knowledge of project management concepts, a plus; highly organized with solid time management and prioritization skills, including supporting events and campaigns aimed at stakeholder engagement and measuring results.
  • Knowledge of communication and office software such as Microsoft Office Suite Applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn Salesforce, iModules, Canva, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and TikTok.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with a wide range of colleagues in a diverse community.
  • Excellent and flexible writing skills, particularly for various audiences.
  • Works independently and fosters a cooperative spirit within a large and/or small team of diverse cultures, while working in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and frequently changing priorities.

Location: Remote, USA

Travel: Limited travel required. Employee may be encouraged to participate in annual events such as commencement if within close proximity.

Candidate receiving offers will be offered a salary/pay rate commensurate with experience that vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies.  Absent exceptional circumstances, candidates will be offered a salary within this range for this position. The minimum salary will be offered based on the minimum exemption threshold based on state of residency.
