Sentara Princess Anne Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for our 3 Bravo Respiratory IMC Unit in Virginia Beach, VA!
Schedules available: Schedule includes every other Weekend rotation
Full Time Nights (Three 12-hour shifts 7pm to 7am)
Part Time nights (Two 12-hour shifts)
3 Bravo IMC is a dynamic, 24-bed intermediate care unit specializing in the management and stabilization of high-acuity respiratory patients, including those on chronic ventilators and BiPAP therapy. As a certified backup stroke unit, the team is trained to respond quickly to neurological emergencies as well. Located within a Magnet®-recognized hospital, 3 Bravo IMC provides an exceptional environment for both seasoned healthcare professionals and those beginning their careers. Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) have a patient ratio of 1:8 or 1:12, reflecting the unit’s commitment to balancing workload with quality care. All team members play a pivotal and respected role in delivering safe, compassionate patient care.
The Patient Care Technician provides patient care, support independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse. Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and document in a timely and accurate manner while reporting any change to the nurse or medical staff.
Education:
HS – High School Grad or Equivalent
One of the following programs: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, or current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT) or current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.
Certifications/Licensure:
AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
Experience:
One year of health care experience is preferred.
