The County of Los Angeles is currently offering a 5.5% RN Bonus for all persons working permanent and full-time Registered Nurse positions within DHS designated Juvenile Court Health Services Detention Centers/Halls, to meet the healthcare needs of the uniquely underserved juvenile detention population.
- Performs a range of nursing tasks required by the service such as assessment, phlebotomy, specimen collection and processing, Administering medications/injections, immunizations, and patient teaching.
- Completes appropriate documentation in the Electronic Health Record.
- Observes and analyzes overall patient condition through interviews and physical assessment during admission, triage, nurse clinics, and discharge.
- Communicates the effectiveness of treatments and interventions by consulting with clinician for medical management issues.
- Assist clinician in the nursing care of youth in the observation unit and doctor’s clinic.
- Performs efficiently in emergency situations
- Educates youth, families, and other non-nursing personnel on a variety of health topics.
- Assists in monitoring quality assurance, infection control and safety activities.
- May coordinate the patient’s medical care with private physicians, public facilities, and other health care centers.
- Follows standardized clinical workflows, nursing policies, and procedures to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery across Juvenile Court Health Services (JCHS) sites and supports youth health initiatives.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Strong nursing assessment skills and the ability to prioritize quickly.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively interact with adolescents.
- Positive attitude, team-player with effective interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Able to work independently and collaborate with others.
- Excellent computer literacy skills
- Experience in Med Surgical/ER and/or Psych /Correctional Health
