Role Overview

First Connect is fully cloud-native — no offices, no data centers, everything we run lives in the cloud and ships through our pipelines. That makes cloud and infrastructure security the center of gravity for our whole security program, and it's the part of the program we are building right now.

This is a hands-on engineering role and most of what you own will be implemented, configured and tuned from scratch rather than inherited: cloud security posture and workload protection, infrastructure and IaC guardrails, automation that removes manual security work, and the emerging practice around how we secure both our internal use of AI and the AI capabilities in our product and development. You'll also help us keep our security engineering aligned with our SOC 2 Type II and financial-services regulatory obligations.

You'll join our team as our first dedicated Cloud Security Engineer, reporting directly to our Information Security Manager, and working side by side with our DevOps and R&D teams in Poland, Israel and the US.

What You'll Do: 

• Secure and harden our cloud estate: Own the security posture of our AWS environment (identity and access, network boundaries, encryption and key management). Build security into how our infrastructure is defined and deployed: Terraform modules and guardrails, Kubernetes and ECS workloads, container images, secrets management and policy-as-code.
• Stand up security tooling and detection: Help select, deploy and fine-tune cloud security platforms (CNAPP/CSPM, workload protection, logging and detection), mostly starting from a blank slate. Make sure our telemetry has the right sources, coverage and alerts, and support investigations when something looks wrong.
• Embed and automate security in delivery: Build SAST, SCA, secrets, IaC and container scanning into our pipelines, cut the noise, and partner with developers on fixing what matters. Treat manual security effort as a bug: findings become tickets, checks become gates, and evidence collects itself.
• Secure AI across the company and our product: Help the company adopt AI safely by reviewing tools and connectors, mapping data flows, and controlling prompt injection, data exposure and over-permissioned integrations. Work with R&D on the AI capabilities we ship to agents, from threat modeling to controls and monitoring. 
• Support the AI code factory: Review, advise on and help set up fully automated AI code deployment and product development.
• Be the go-to expert: Act as the technical reference point for cloud security across R&D and DevOps. Review designs, give clear guidance, and make the secure path the easy path.

What you'll bring

• Experience: 6+ years across cloud/infrastructure engineering and information security, with substantial hands-on time in cloud security.
• AWS and infrastructure depth: You've secured real production AWS environments (IAM and organization-level controls, networking, encryption, logging) and can explain the trade-offs you made. You also have solid production experience with Terraform and Kubernetes and/or ECS.
• A builder's mindset: You've implemented security tooling from scratch, which means you chose it, rolled it out, tuned it and lived with the results. You're comfortable with ownership and ambiguity, because this program is being built, not maintained.
• Coding and automation: You write real code (Python, TypeScript/Node, Go or similar), work comfortably with APIs, and build things that run in CI/CD without supervision.
• Influence and collaboration: You're a technical authority who wins teams over with reasoning and working solutions rather than mandates. You drive the technical direction while making decisions together with Security and R&D leadership, and you prefer teamwork to lone-wolf security.
• Communication and languages: You communicate clearly, in writing and in speech, with DevOps, R&D and non-technical stakeholders across three countries and several time zones. You need professional English and Polish (both C1).
• Location and availability: You're based in Poland and open to occasional afternoon meetings (CET) with colleagues in other time zones.

Even better if you also have

• Application security experience: Pipeline-based scanning, dependency and secrets hygiene, common web and API vulnerability classes, and the judgment to prioritize them sensibly.
• AI fluency: You use modern AI tools in your daily work, understand the risks behind them (prompt injection, data leakage, excessive agency, third-party AI data flows), and want to go deeper.
