About the role
We are looking for two Software Engineers to join our Technical Excellence team, supporting Hargreaves Lansdown's AI capability maturity and wider Modernisation of Technology (MoT) objectives.In this role, you will help build, enhance, and support AI-enabled tooling and automation that underpin our engineering platform, enabling teams across the organisation to deliver software more efficiently and effectively.
What you will be doing:
Write high quality code adhering to corporate & regulatory standards, delivered in a timely manner, without supervision
Work collaboratively with the team to help deliver new features for the product team in line with requirements
Provide engineering support for existing applications when necessary
Maintain awareness of current secure coding practices and ensure code produced is in line with these
Review other developers’ code to ensure conformance with established standards
Develop and evidence automated tests alongside code produced
Documenting all solutions produced to agreed team standards
Habitually comment code to high standards
Willingness to learn and further technologies & techniques embraced by engineering team
Cultivate strong working relationships within the wider Digital department
Actively participate in schemes designed to support the product team
Develop both technical and interpersonal skills (weighted towards technical)
About you:
Broad knowledge of one or more development languages
A practical appreciation of database design and working practices
Able to effectively use version control to manage code
Able to effectively use project tracking tools
Understanding of professional development methodologies, tools (e.g. source control, automation testing tools, build servers) and wider SDLC
Understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) model principles and application design patterns
Able to demonstrate clear and concise documentation & planning
Ability to work well both independently and in an agile team
Ability to perform under pressure when required
Logical, analytical and methodological approach to problem solving
Consults with others over large or complex decisions
Working Schedule:
This role is based in Number One, Welcome Building, Bristol, BS2 0TR. This role is permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We have returned to the office 2 days a week.
