Role Summary

Urban Outfitters is seeking a Temporary Senior Designer- Concept to support the creation of customer-relevant trend and concept direction that drives both inspiration and commercial success. This role translates cultural shifts, market insights, and brand data into relatable seasonal palettes, motifs, and trend tools that resonate with our customer.

 

Partnering closely with the Senior Director, this leader develops clear, compelling seasonal presentations, guides a small team, and ensures cohesive communication across Design, Buying, and Trend. The ideal candidate brings exceptional visual storytelling, deep expertise in fashion, and the ability to innovate—leveraging both traditional design methods and AI—to deliver elevated, customer-centric concept work.  This role requires the ability to report on site at our World Headquarters in Philadelphia, PA 2-3 day per week.

Role Responsibilities

• Contribute to seasonal print and color direction that is culturally relevant and grounded in customer insight.

• Create trend tools to be referenced and utilized by the Women's Design Team.

• Build clear, inspiring presentations that communicate seasonal trend, print and color stories across the organization.

• Translate cultural, fashion, and consumer trends into actionable, customer-relevant concepts.

• Contribute to washed product direction and support digital yardage and pre-development needs.

• Partner cross-functionally with Design, Buying, Trend, and Print Design to drive alignment and adoption of key trends.

• Monitor competition and emerging trends to identify commercial opportunities.

• Present confidently to leadership and support best-in-class seasonal concept decks.

• Drive innovation in visual storytelling, presentation formats, and use of AI-driven creative tools.

Role Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion or Textile Design (preferred).

• 6–8+ years of design experience.

• Deep expertise in color theory, print/pattern development, apparel design, trend forecasting preferred.

• Strong trend intuition with the ability to translate cultural and consumer insights into commercial concepts.

• Exceptional visual storytelling and presentation skills.

• Strong communication and cross-functional partnership abilities.

• Highly organized with strong multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.

• Proven problem-solving skills and ability to drive work from concept through completion.

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and openness to using AI-assisted creative tools.

• Ability to give clear feedback, guide team workflows, and support team development.
