Role Description

LSEG is seeking a Senior Automation Quality Assurance Engineer to join the Quant Analytics Databases team in Bucharest.

In this role, you will help ensure the quality, reliability, and integrity of database-driven quantitative analytics products and services. You will design, implement, and maintain automated testing solutions across user interfaces, APIs, data-processing workflows, and databases.

As a senior individual contributor, you will independently own complex testing activities, contribute to the team’s quality strategy, and work closely with software engineers, quantitative specialists, product managers, and other stakeholders across an international environment. You will promote engineering best practices and help the team deliver reliable, maintainable, and high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated test suites for database-driven applications, APIs, and web interfaces.
  • Take ownership of test automation activities throughout the software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis to production release.
  • Define test approaches for complex features, considering functional correctness, data integrity, regression risk, and system dependencies.
  • Create and maintain UI automation using Selenium, Playwright, or comparable technologies.
  • Develop automated tests for REST APIs and other service interfaces, including validation of payloads, error handling, authentication, and integration scenarios.
  • Perform database testing using SQL to validate data quality, transformations, calculations, consistency, and persistence.
  • Identify suitable automation opportunities and maintain an effective balance between automated and exploratory testing.
  • Analyse requirements and technical designs to identify risks, ambiguities, dependencies, and testability concerns early in the delivery process.
  • Investigate complex failures across application, API, database, and infrastructure layers, clearly communicating findings and supporting root-cause analysis.
  • Integrate automated tests with version control and continuous integration workflows.
  • Review test code and contribute to coding standards, reusable components, and maintainable automation practices.
  • Track and communicate quality risks, test coverage, defects, and release-readiness information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Use AI-assisted tools responsibly to improve activities such as test design, test-data creation, code generation, failure analysis, and technical documentation, while reviewing generated outputs for accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate proactively with colleagues across different functions, locations, and cultures.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across quality assurance and software engineering practices.
  • Share knowledge and provide technical guidance through peer reviews, documentation, and day-to-day collaboration, without formal people-management responsibilities.
