Department Overview

The mission of the Global Integration Section within the Corporate Planning Department is to maximize corporate value following M&A transactions-which serve as the growth engine for the Rakuten Group-as well as joint ventures and organizational restructurings. Rather than merely handling administrative integration tasks, the section leads the entire integration process in collaboration with various stakeholders, focusing on how to maximize the Rakuten Group’s governance and synergies in the shortest possible time while leveraging the strengths of the acquired companies.

Position:

Why We Hire

As the number of projects-such as organizational restructuring initiatives-increases, we are looking to hire additional PMO staff to assist with project management.

This is an environment where you can exchange ideas and push each other to excel within an organization composed of people from diverse backgrounds.

・Project Management (PM) Skills
In M&A-a “project with no single correct answer and where deadlines are of the utmost importance”-you will develop the ability to successfully complete the entire process, from defining the scope to managing milestones and mitigating risks.

・Multi-Stakeholder Management Skills
You will dramatically improve your coordination and negotiation skills as a “command center” connecting key personnel at the target company with various internal departments-including Legal, Accounting, IT, HR, and business units-each with their own areas of expertise.

・Business Perspective and Governance-Building Skills
You will learn the fundamentals of corporate governance by establishing compliance and reporting systems for a publicly traded company.

・Change Management Insights
Through the process of integrating organizations with different corporate cultures into a single “Rakuten Group” culture, you will experience firsthand both the challenges and the rewards of organizational transformation (change management).

Position Details

You will facilitate smooth communication with relevant personnel-including those in business operations, finance, accounting, legal, human resources, and IT-at the acquired company and its group companies, and create a WBS agreed upon by all stakeholders. You will drive the project forward by engaging those around you and ensure the project is managed and completed on schedule.

You will be involved in all processes related to PMI, including (i) defining the scope, (ii) team building, (iii) creating detailed plans, (iv) implementing detailed plans, (v) monitoring progress and resolving issues, and (vi) preparing progress reports.
