Failure Analysis Technician

Eaton’s Critical Power Solutions Division is currently seeking a Failure Analysis Technician to join our team. This position is based in Raleigh, NC at the Raleigh Plant Operations facility.

As a Failure Analysis Technician, you will be a key member of the Raleigh Plant Operations team, responsible for troubleshooting and analyzing product failures to identify root causes and drive corrective actions. You will collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality, Test, and Production teams to improve product reliability and manufacturing performance through detailed failure investigations, data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. In this role, you will help ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence while supporting the development of robust solutions that enhance customer satisfaction and product performance.

The expected annual salary range for this role is: $56,000 - $83,000 a year.

## What you’ll do:

• Troubleshoot/ Screen failed components from systems test and identify and complete any rework needed
• Analyze failures to determine root cause and suggest corrective actions
• Develop test plans for analysis of any new product components and coordinate any new functional testing capabilities
• Review product operational event and history logs to facilitate failure analysis
• Document failure information including root cause and possible corrective and preventive actions as a feedback loop to improve product quality and provide input to new product development processes
• Manage Failure Analysis area logistics including transportation of material, material transactions, and disposition of product
• Support/ Maintain test equipment in accordance with calibration system requirements
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, quality, test, and production
• Serve as plant champion of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) controls
• Maintain 5S+ in the work areas associated with the failure analysis process
• Foster an environment that promotes Eaton’s financial and aspirational goals, encouraging continuous improvement through participation and teamwork
• Assist in facilitating and supporting company internal and external audits
• Maintain internal documentation control system of all company processes and procedures
• Adhere to all environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures and work procedures

## Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• Associates Degree or Certificate in Electronics Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering Technology
• Minimum 2 years of experience in troubleshooting electronic equipment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, web-based information, and documentation systems
• Ability to read, understand and interpret product drawings, manufacturing documents and electronic schematics
• Relocation Assistance is not available for this position. Only candidates within a 60-mile radius of Raleigh, NC, will be considered
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Electrical and Computer Engineering from an accredited educational institution
• Experience in failure analysis of electronic systems to root cause and identification of corrective actions
• 5 years of experience in troubleshooting electronic equipment
• PCBA Failure Analysis experience
• Previous work experience of problem-solving methods such as: Six Sigma, 8D, root cause analysis, and the associated statistical tools used to analyze problems, evaluate, and complete improvement projects.
• Certification in IPC-A-610 standard
• Knowledge of Quality standards, ISO-9001
• SAP Experience

## Skills:

• Electrical technical knowledge of troubleshooting/failure analysis of failures down to the component level on printed circuit boards to determine root cause based on findings and test information of failures
• Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good knowledge of analog and digital electronic circuit theory, and communications with external equipment and software applications
• Ability to perform tests and utilize test equipment needed based on information of failures
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Proactive team player able to work with Test, Quality and Engineers in finding root cause for failures.
• Independently setting priorities based on failure analysis product needs
