About the Job

We have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Safety & Health Specialist to join the Tailored Brands Risk Management team.

The Environment Safety & Health Specialist will report to the Director of Insurance, Safety & Risk Management and receive technical support and mentoring from the ES&H Manager. This position is based at our Joseph Abboud Manufacturing Co (JAMCo), serving as the dedicated on-site safety resource, while regularly supporting Distribution Centers (DCs), HUBs, and Stores in the Northeast region, as well as supporting tailored ES&H needs and initiatives across the network. The ES&H Specialist is responsible for executing daily hands-on safety operations, supporting regulatory compliance, conducting site inspections, and performing incident investigations. In this role you will build targeted safety programs, training modules, and standard operating procedures to reduce injuries and enhance compliance specifically at JAMCO while aligning with network-wide standards. In addition, you will provide ~~~~ day-to-day tactical guidance to site leadership and team members, fostering a culture of ES&H excellence.

This is an onsite position based at JAMCO facility in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

What You’ll Do | Key Accountabilities

  • Operational ES&H Support: Act as the dedicated, hands-on safety resource at JAMCO while providing routine support to Northeast DCs, HUBs, and retail stores.
  • JAMCO Program & Procedure Development: Build, adapt, and refine local safety procedures, training materials, and injury-reduction initiatives at JAMCO to mitigate operational risks and enhance regulatory compliance.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Execution: Assist in implementing and maintaining ES&H programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA standards, and company policies, proactively addressing local regulatory requirements.
  • Site Audits & Risk Assessments: Conduct frequent site audits, risk assessments, and workplace organization reviews across JAMCO, Northeast stores, distribution centers, hubs, identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and track implementation.
  • Subject Matter Resource: Serve as a knowledgeable resource on local, regional, and company-wide ES&H regulations and safety guidelines, providing guidance to site-level leadership and field teams.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support local continuous improvement efforts by tracking near-miss reports, leading indicators, and corrective-action closure rates.
  • Incident & Data Analysis: Conduct incident investigations, complete root-cause analyses, and assist in reporting worker's compensation and safety metrics to Risk Management.
  • Recordkeeping & Compliance Tracking: Ensure accurate recordkeeping and data integrity in safety reporting systems, providing operations teams with insights for compliance tracking.
  • Safety Leadership & Engagement: Engage with shift supervisors and employee safety committees to foster a proactive safety culture.
  • Risk Mitigation & Injury Reduction: Engage with on-site leadership teams to drive initiatives focused on risk mitigation, injury prevention, and ergonomic evaluations.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with field safety teams to integrate best practices into standard operating procedures, ensuring consistency across assigned locations.
  • Training & Program Effectiveness: Deliver onboarding and periodic safety training to hourly and front-line staff, ensuring high completion rates and program understanding.
  • Emergency Response & Preparedness: Assist in conducting regular emergency drills, inspecting life safety equipment, and maintaining site emergency action plans.
  • Sustainability & Environmental Stewardship: Support facility environmental compliance activities, such as proper waste disposal, hazardous material storage, and local environmental recordkeeping.
  • Contractor & Supplier Safety Management: Assist in verifying contractor safety orientation and compliance while third parties are working on-site.
  • Technology & Data Analytics Utilization Input safety observations, audit scores, and incident logs into safety tracking software.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Ensure timely and accurate reporting of ES&H metrics Director of Risk and/or the ES&H Manager, regulatory bodies, and local management, maintaining comprehensive records.
  • Other Projects as Assigned: Support additional initiatives based on the evolving needs of the business.

What You’ll Bring | Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, Business, ES&H, or a related field preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 1–3 years of direct experience in safety, industrial hygiene, environmental compliance, or risk mitigation within distribution, manufacturing, or retail operations.
  • Manufacturing, Retail, or distribution experience preferred.
  • Professional certifications preferred (e.g., OSHA 30-hour, ASP, or CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within 120 days).
  • Strong technical knowledge of OSHA regulations, basic risk management, and site compliance.
  • Ability to communicate safety strategies clearly to front-line employees and site leadership.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in safety-related databases and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Multi-tasking and prioritizing skills to complete projects within deadlines.
  • OSHA compliance programs and basic incident investigation experience.
  • A highly motivated, detail-oriented, well-organized professional with strong interpersonal skills.
  • A self-starter, with the ability to maintain productivity with minimal daily supervision.
  • Ability to perform investigations in a confidential environment.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends, as needed.

Work Environment, Physical & Mental Demands

· Primarily operates in manufacturing, distribution, retail, and office environments, requiring regular site visits and audits.

  • Frequent interaction with site leadership, employees, and regional operations teams.
  • Travel requirement is 25% of the time for Northeast multi-site support (DCs/HUBs/Stores) and network-wide ES&H support.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, and perform safety audits in industrial environments for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally as part of workplace evaluations.
  • Requires mental agility to analyze incident data, problem-solve, and enforce safety rules.
  • Must utilize visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment.
  • Flexible to work extended hours when needed.
  • Requires mental agility to analyze data, problem-solve, and drive process improvements.
  • Must be able to respond effectively to emergencies and high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to influence and guide a diverse workforce toward a culture of safety and compliance.

The starting salary for this position is $62,000 – $80,000. Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on factors such as skills, experience, and qualifications. Base pay information is based on market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
