SUMMARY

This position will focus on growth, partnership development and innovation of School Market Distributions, Backpacks for Kids program and in-school pantries for the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. This position will expand the impact of current community partners to increase nutritious food distribution to eligible children. Additional focus will be on building new strategic partnerships and developing a new in-school pantry program model to reach more underserved student populations and their families across our six-county region. This position will work closely with Children’s Programs, Partner Services, Operations, and Benefits Outreach departments to facilitate and organize the logistics of School Markets, Backpacks for Kids program and in-school pantry distributions. This position will leverage new technologies and processes to streamline internal tasks while practicing continuous improvement with our partners. Accompanying all growth, this position with provide excellent partner relationship management and will share best practices with the Feeding America Network. This position requires that one work well in a team atmosphere and be committed to a high level of communication both internally and externally.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is not all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for management and growth of School Market Produce Distributions, Backpacks for Kids program and in-school pantry programs per the strategic direction of the GCFB
  • Work with the Community Health & Research team to identify underserved and saturated areas. 
  • Attend regular planning meetings and work with Operations to coordinate sustainable growth across organization. 
  • Utilize technology and new systems to simplify school market produce distribution planning, scheduling, and fulfillment.
  • Work with Nutrition Team to coordinate the distribution and planning of healthy recipes, tips, cooking demos and other helpful educational tools to empower students and their families encountering new foods. 
  • Attend Feeding America conference calls and webinars. Network with other food banks and share best practices on program development.
  • Act as a back-up for feedback sessions, annual orientations, and trainings for program distribution partners, and other program areas as needed.
  • Maintain required job knowledge, skills, and core competencies. Attend and participate in required educational programs and staff meetings.
  • Responsible for monitoring, data/statistical collection and completing reports from appropriate agencies and maintaining records and files of all appropriate programs 
  • Ensure that Foodbank programs conform to local, state and Feeding America’s contract and agreements for programs.
  • Serve on community boards and committees when appropriate
  • Supervises Children’s Program Assistant.  
  • Collaborate with the Director of Children’s Programs and Children’s Programs Manager to develop, administer, and compile survey results in conjunction with the Community Health & Research team. 
  • Work with Director of Children’s Programs in creating a program budget and tracking monthly expenses for programs
  • Work with the department Director to maintain a dashboard that tracks the progress and impact of backpack, school market, and in-school pantry programs. 
  • Actively support and champion initiatives aimed at driving continuous improvement throughout the organization. May participate in one of the following: LEAN council, a kaizen, 5S campaign or other process improvement efforts to support continuous improvement and improved processes within the food bank.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned. 

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises the Children’s Program Assistant. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from four-year College/University strongly preferred. Three years management experience in social services/programs; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Supervisory experience required in human services/ non-profit (preferred). Previous database management experience a plus. Must be willing and able to travel for the organization with short notice. Must be able to exercise leadership in various internal and external relationships, including cultivation and networking. Willingness to work beyond normal working hours, when necessary. Must possess outstanding leadership abilities and communication skills to effectively work in an environment of highly diverse people. Must possess strong attention to detail. Proficiency in Windows based computer software, with an emphasis on spreadsheets, word processing and database management mandatory. ServSafe Certified required. Unencumbered State Driver’s License required.  Required commitment to making interactions across different cultures and backgrounds a strength of our organization as demonstrated through work, life or community experience.


Physical Requirements and Environment


The physical requirements for this position include: Ability to frequently remain in a stationary position. Ability to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. frequently. Ability to operate a computer or other office productivity machinery constantly. Occasional ability to ascend/descend stairs to access workspaces. Ability to position or move body to access filing cabinets or other work equipment frequently. Ability to constantly exchange accurate information and communicate in person or via telephone with clients, partners, donors, coworkers and other members of the community. Must be able to frequently view a computer screen. Ability to move office equipment/supplies frequently. Ability to lift 25-50 lbs on a regular basis. Travel is frequently required for this position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

  

Salary Range: $55,500-$64,750 per year, commensurate with experience
