Description
SUPERVISION - RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORK OF OTHERS:
Supervise a team of 15 employees within the Street Division of the Public Works Department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, officials and the public. (Daily)
Regular timely/punctual attendance. (Daily)
Effectively plan, organize and direct the City’s street maintenance programs. (Daily)
Conduct effective storm procedures, including snow and ice removal. (Daily)
Efficiently and effectively handle complaints received. (Daily)
Effectively assign and supervise personnel. (Daily)
Prepare sound and accurate budget recommendations and maintain expenditures within budget. (Daily)
Establish and enforce safety practices. (Daily)
Organize files and maintain accurate records. (Daily)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Work Type: Medium, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to more objects

Ability to maintain accurate records.MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school with five years of progressively responsible street maintenance and construction experience, or a related field, including three years in a supervisor capacity; college level course work or vocational training in engineering or related field is desirable; Must possess a valid Nebraska CDL Class B driver’s license with air brakes and tanker endorsements or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS:
This position has a thirty (30) minute response time by way of the most direct route from the employee’s permanent residence to the employee’s assigned work site and within posted speed limits.MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT AND WORK AIDS USED:
Computers, drafting tools, pencils, pickups, dump trucks, motor grader, front loaders, tractor mowers, rollers, asphalt machine, mudjack, sweeper, tamps, vibrators, concrete tools, telephone and radio.
