Job Purpose
A fixed-term, project-linked role created solely to sustain routine manufacture within Bard's existing (legacy) manufacturing suites while permanent technicians are released to train as workplace trainers/trainees for the new ADHD bead manufacturing unit and associated expansion assets. The role exists only for the duration of the Manufacturing Expansion Training Workstream and concludes on its completion. The post-holder is accountable for processes within an assigned legacy manufacturing area only, delivering production KPIs to the highest GMP and Health & Safety standards so that supply is protected during the transition. The post-holder will not be trained, qualified, deployed or scheduled on the new bead unit or any new expansion asset.
Key Responsibilities
To support the Cell Leads in ensuring that the Manufacturing targets are achieved within the legacy assets and production area, working as a team to cover breaks and operational activities.
Ensure that tasks for the oncoming shift are completed and prepared so they are starting from a good position. E.g. parts ready for change overs, materials are readily available, 5S and work place management is in good order.
Take part in root cause analysis / problem solving as part of their development and to develop their process knowledge / understanding.
Closely working alongside Engineering team and Quality team as required to overcome and resolve atypical events.
Understand & support KPI delivery, including but not limited to, Changeover time targets, run speed performance and downtime or performance losses on legacy assets.
Being involved in Continuous Improvement initiatives and projects as required such as waste reduction and yield improvements.
A champion of small Kaizen projects and actively involved in Autonomous Maintenance program.
Supporting any validation activities including completion of Validation Protocols and sampling requirements.
Ownership for working environment, delivering work place management processes (5S delivery, GMP of area, stock levels)
Managing own workload and able to resolve issues. Supporting the Co-Ordinator and Shift Manager through inputting of operational data (Downtime reporting, maximo submission)
Good knowledge of the pre-requisite quality requirements and documentation.
Able to raise DCRs for Batch Record & procedure updates to maintain operational & regulatory compliance
To understand and comply to the security responsibilities of the operation.
To ensure machinery is maintained in a safe, clean and tidy condition.
Work areas to be maintained to a good standard at all times including embedding workplace management.
Carrying out any other reasonable task as requested to help ensure that the production operations maintain supporting demand and achieve improvements in performance, quality and safety.
Qualifications
Minimum Required: Minimum of 4 GCSE's of grade C or above in Maths & English (or equivalent)
Preferred: ‘A’ level or above (or equivalent)
Experience
Minimum Required: GMP background. Cleaning or servicing of production equipment.
Preferred: Process equipment maintenance. Pharmaceutical industry.

Working Conditions
Exposure to hot / humid conditions within the Manufacturing suites, exposure to cleaning chemicals and active ingredients requiring the use of RPE / PPE, manual handling activities of high frequency and frequent movements required for stripping and re-assembling production equipment.
Fixed-Term/ Project Nature
The role has been created solely to support continuity of routine manufacturing operations during the Manufacturing Expansion Training Workstream and is not intended to result in a permanent position.
The Employee's responsibilities are limited to processes within an assigned legacy manufacturing area and associated activities necessary to maintain production output during the transition period.
The Employee will not be trained, qualified, authorised, deployed or scheduled to work on the new ADHD bead manufacturing unit or any new expansion asset.
The completion of the Manufacturing Expansion Training Workstream will constitute the expiry event for this fixed-term appointment, following which employment will end in accordance with the terms of this contract.
