Summary: Give a brief summary of the main purpose of the work.
Coordinates activities related to the procurement of goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and consumables. Initiate purchase requisitions in a timely manner and at the lowest possible cost, with quality and reliability in mind. Follow the company's safety, quality and continuous improvement policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Identify, contact, and negotiate with suppliers for information on raw materials, products, or services, such as pricing, availability, stock, supply agreements, and lead times, to meet service needs and sales forecasts. Maintains working relationships with suppliers on all current and potential future business.
• Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers through effective communication and by holding regular meetings.
• Identify and recommend opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
• Prepares purchase orders for raw materials, products, or services. Ensures that all goods and services ordered are procured with clear instructions on the necessary documentation and conformity to the required specifications. Pay special attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of all purchase orders.
• Maintains procurement metrics, such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality, or performance.
• Is responsible for the associated processes and the continuous improvement of those processes and systems.
• Negotiate with suppliers about prices, delivery times, payment terms, and other necessary contractual obligations.
• Manage supplier performance by focusing on pricing, quality, and deliveries.
• Coordinates the maintenance of the list of approved suppliers with procurement, quality and engineering.
• Accelerates the delivery of goods to completion as per requirements and updates the ERP system.
• Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control, users, suppliers, and others to determine issue and resolve promptly.
• Assists the purchasing team and other divisions by informing them of any supply issues affecting business operations.
• Helps to reduce acquisition costs by analyzing costs and proposing cost reduction measures.
• Discuss price differences with the appropriate parties and resolve in a timely manner.
• Provides information and support for the development of new products, processes, or suppliers.
• Health, Safety and Environment Responsibility: Comply with the requirements of the Health, Safety and Environment System, apply the Varel International Policy to its activities to achieve the effectiveness and continuous improvement of production and administrative processes, in addition to leading and actively participating in training activities in the different processes and applying the concepts communicated.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Ensure suppliers understand procurement priorities and meet delivery requirements.

• Interact and build relationships with people from different cultures and disciplines and solve their problems.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the purchasing module of an ERP system (preferably SAP).
• Analyze procurement reports to identify trends and activities that lead to those results and make recommendations for improvement.
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal, communicative, and organizational skills.
• Demonstrate practical and objective problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrate integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
• Understand and communicate accurately, clearly, and concisely in English.

Education & Knowledge

• A bachelor's degree in supply chain management or a closely related field.
• Knowledge of purchasing principles and processes.
• Business knowledge to contribute ideas and ask questions with a report or analysis.
• Excel
• SAP expertise
• Experience with PCE product line

Work Experience
Minimum 10-12 years of purchasing experience.
