As a Reemployment Coordinator - Local Veterans Employment Representative (LVER), you'll champion employment opportunities for veterans and job seekers by partnering with businesses and community organizations to create pathways to success.

Examples of Work

The primary purpose and function of the Local Veterans Employment Representative (LVER) is to work with local employers to meet employment needs of veterans and eligible persons with barriers to employment, as well as other populations.

  • Research and recommend clients for various training services including Re-Employment Services, Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC), Rapid Response, Veterans and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) which requires in-depth case management and vocational guidance.

  • Screen applicants for eligibility for partner programs and utilize vocational guidance tools to assist applicants with core intensive services; work closely with partners in coordinating services of mutual clients.

  • Lead and/or assist in the planning and execution of hiring events, workshops, and other meaningful workforce events.

  • Work with employers to create employment opportunities for Veterans.

  • Administer assessment instruments (tests, surveys, etc.) and other planning tools; interpret results and counsel clients.

  • Utilize various means of technology to provide needed data and perform employment services tasks.

  • Conduct presentations and perform outreach activities through membership on various advisory boards, committees, and community organizations (some travel time necessary).

  • Perform data entry and retrieval activities for various employment activities and programs as needed.

  • Understand, interpret, and consistently apply federal, state, and agency policies, procedures, and program guidance.

  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.

  • Utilize strong verbal and written communication skills.

Location: 2317 N 6th St, Beatrice, NE (on-site)
Work Schedule: 8am- 5pm; Monday - Friday


 

Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Post high school coursework or training in social/behavioral sciences, counseling, business, public administration, education, marketing, or a related field; or experience in client development and case management including interviewing, research, and direct customer service.


Preferred Qualifications: Associate or bachelor’s degree in social work, human relations, business or related academic major plus casework or equivalent work experience. Experience in workforce development, business services, human resources, recruiting, employment services, economic development, or related field preferred.

Other: MUST BE A VETERAN OF MILITARY SERVICE (per 38 U.S.C. 4103A and 4104 federal requirements). Preference will be given in this order: 1) Qualified service-connected disabled Veteran; 2) Qualified eligible veteran; 3) Eligible person. To verify veteran status, the DD214 and other necessary paperwork needs to be submitted with the application. Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of: Veteran-specific services and benefits available through the Veterans' Employment and Training Service (VETS) and other workforce development programs, including WIOA, VETS, or DOL grants; equal opportunity laws; vocational counseling or career guidance; employment trends and labor market information; case management interviewing procedures and techniques; developing and designing training programs; typical office computer systems; Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Access, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), SharePoint, Google Docs; NEworks or similar case management systems.


Skilled in: Public speaking or communicating with an audience; relationship-building skills; presenting information clearly using various media, strong case and time management skills.


Ability to: Plan and organize work; communicate to disseminate information to a diverse group of people; promote/market/present services to groups of individuals; follow instructions; interact with clients, employers and the public; administer tests and measurements; conduct evaluations; create presentations; manage multiple programs; manage and document detailed case notes; learn and apply agency rules, policies and procedures; maintain appropriate, professional working relationships with the public, coworkers and management; maintain regular and reliable attendance.
