BUILDING ENGINEER

Description

Dynamic, rapidly growing property management company seeks building engineer for beautiful housing complex in Detroit, MI, home to many diverse residents. The building engineer adds value to the community  by ensuring identification and completion of daily general apartment maintenance duties, developing and upholding company standards, and ensuring all tasks are performed in the utmost professional manner.

Responsibilities:

• Administrative Duties: Train and mentor maintenance staff, promoting a culture of continuous learning and development. Supervise and coordinate the activities of the maintenance team, including technicians, groundskeepers, and other staff members as deemed necessary. Collaborate with property manager to address resident concerns and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. Work hands on with staff in all areas of the maintenance responsibilities.
• Compliance & Reporting: Coordinate and prioritize maintenance requests, ensuring timely and efficient completion. Conduct regular inspections of apartments, common areas, and amenities to identify and resolve maintenance issues promptly. Order and maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment. Implement and enforce safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.  
• Core Competencies: Professionally communicate with coworkers, vendors, and residents. Must possess positive attitude and desire to lead by example. Be able to lead a team and work as a member of the team. Must be organized and able to prioritize tasks. 
• Education: Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance or a related field. High school diploma or equivalent required. Relevant certifications (HVAC, Plumbing, EPA Refrigerant Recovery Certification, etc.) are advantageous. Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical skills, and general carpentry required.

Requirements

Applicants must have 2 years of experience in apartment maintenance, or a similar field, with proven experience in supervising and leading a team. Applicants must have excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, an ability to communicate effectively, and a desire to set a good example and make a difference. Applicants must have a strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical skills, and general carpentry. Applicants must have a valid driver's license.
