Description

About the Role:

Grade Level (for internal use):

12

The Team:

S&P Global Ratings' Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) Commercial team sets and executes commercial priorities across Financial Services, Structured Finance, Infrastructure and Project Finance, Private Markets, Private Equity, and Leveraged Loan businesses. The team partners with Commercial, Strategy, and broader S&P Global colleagues to deepen existing client relationships and win new business, bringing informed market perspective to clients and advisors across the specialized finance landscape. This is a client-first, outcome-oriented team with a collaborative culture, a strong commercial focus, and direct exposure to senior leadership across analytical and commercial functions.

Responsibilities and Impact:

  • Lead business development activity with Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) asset managers and advisory banks active in European CLO issuance, taking full accountability for growing revenue through existing and emerging Ratings products.

  • Own and develop senior-level relationships with CLO clients and ratings advisors, translating market developments and client feedback into commercial opportunities that meet revenue targets and strategic account objectives.

  • Manage complex commercial contract negotiations, identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within Ratings, and deliver high-quality referrals to other S&P Global divisions in collaboration with relevant teams.

  • Build and maintain effective internal relationships with Ratings leaders across Commercial, Analytical, and Compliance functions to align on business priorities and regulatory expectations.

  • Deliver detailed analysis of market developments and client intelligence to improve commercial operations and contribute to the development of new products and client solutions.

  • Apply data, market intelligence, and AI-enabled tools to enhance decision-making, productivity, and client outcomes, while operating within S&P Global Ratings' regulatory and compliance frameworks.

What We're Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 7 to 12 years of relevant experience in rating agency, bank, limited partner, general partner, or asset manager roles, including structured finance, CLOs, leveraged finance, private credit, private equity, or broader debt capital markets.

  • Demonstrated track record of business development and/or senior relationship management in a leveraged finance, CLO, private credit, or structured finance environment, with a solid understanding of debt capital markets and corporate finance.

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder influence skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly across functions, seniority levels, and external audiences including regulators and advisory banks.

  • Demonstrated ability to use data, market intelligence, and AI-enabled tools to improve client insight, commercial execution, and team productivity.

  • Sound compliance mindset and ethical judgment, with a demonstrated ability to operate confidently within regulatory frameworks and corporate governance standards.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of private credit markets with direct experience engaging private credit clients or advisors.

  • Experience influencing senior external stakeholders and representing an organization publicly as a subject matter expert.

  • Broad knowledge of S&P Global Ratings products, with demonstrated insight-selling skills to identify and develop business opportunities.

  • Proven ability to build and sustain long-term senior client relationships, identify client needs, and execute solution strategies that deliver measurable commercial outcomes.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred. We welcome candidates from traditional finance disciplines as well as diverse academic backgrounds that support innovative and critical thinking.

Additional Information:

  • We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.

  • Employees are required to work from the office a minimum of two days per week.
