Position: MLT
Department: Clinical Lab
Shift’s Available: Variable
Employment Type: Part Time
Hours: 8-hour shifts
Location: Harlingen Medical Center - Harlingen, Texas
Responsibilities
- Collect, process, and prepare specimens such as blood, urine, and other bodily fluids for analysis
- Perform routine and specialized tests to analyze specimens and provide data on patient health, which may include tests in hematology, chemistry, and other areas
- Interpret lab test results and ensure accuracy, you may also enter data into laboratory information systems and prepare reports for healthcare providers
- Follow quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results, this may involve calibrating and maintaining laboratory equipment and performing routine maintenance tasks
- Adhere to hospital policies, safety regulations, and accreditation standards, which could include maintaining a clean and organized work environment and using personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
- Occasionally interact with patients, particularly when collecting specimens, and explain procedures to ensure patient comfort and cooperation
Qualifications
1. Current and Valid State License if the laboratory is located in a state where required2. ASCP certification, or equivalent, required within one year of employment. 3. Associates Degree in chemical, physical, biological science, or completion of coursework in a program for MLT.4. 1 year of hospital laboratory work experience preferred
